The strawmen in this thread are real.

That being said, I can't honestly see SE ever making this. And haven't they said they won't? I might be mistaken but didn't they say they were considering a PvP server but scraped the idea. Yes, I know that's not what we're asking for here, but it kinda sends a strong signal that there won't ever be any type of owPvP in this game.

It's always been the WoL and their Adventurer friends. You, the WoL can choose to not participate. The brazen Adventurers spreading rumors and fighting in the streets can keep at it.

When we're with Hydaelyn, we can see she shows you there are plenty of Warriors of Light flying all around us, iirc. Not only us. So I believe other players are those people.
But yes, often in some quests, they tell us to come with our Adventurer friends.

The lore argument is a weak argument. Even if it's true that owPvP doesn't fit the lore, I'm sure SE would have no problem fitting it into FFxiv lore. The lore in this game isn't really airtight and consistent.
