Open World PvP zone will not work here for two reasons:

#1 - PvP Zone without any objective or rewards will become a desert after a week or two.

#2 - And if they put objective/rewards there, like Glamour/pets/mounts and/or good Gear, then most people will complain that's too much stress/pain to get those rewards/gear.

Basically, this is #2 example ^
PvP zone will put a lot of pressure/stress on casual players. (aka big chunk of a playerbase)

it is also true that if they do not want to get stressed they can just not enter in such zone, what's everyone problem if some people like killin others ingame, all those that enter in an an open pvp zone are responsibles for their ingame life and should not complain if they get kkilled over and over.

We have a pvp zone, I've never seen anyone complain about Wolves Den. It is however limited to dueling, and only 2-3 matches for player-based tournaments, plus making sure no one else using it. This is one of the basic things the game is lacking, to let players make their own content like every game. Player tournaments are one of them.

The point of the open world is to make it big enough for different types and different organizers without 'booking' the entire place. There is no pressure for casual players, I'm sure not everyone plays every single events on their server. There are player-created contents if your server is creative enough. Open world hide and seek, theatres on housing, those just few I've seen being held. PvP is no different.

Let's use the Dueling Circle for example, since that's as open world as it gets for PvP currently. What kind of pressure or stress does it cause casual players by just being there?

Honestly, I just wish they’d add more frontline zones. Been actually enjoying that. I’m going for the Makai outfits and titles. We already have a place we can hang out at and duel in between fights.

It would be a bad decision to add more new ones, when the others frontlines are dead. (Hey, Seal Rock! o/ )
Previously, Yoshida said about placing them "in a rotation" so that players will be able to play all of them on a weekly basis.
But so far, nothing been done.

I really want to play Seal Rock

    On open world pvp zone?
    Pvp servers?
Even WoW is limiting it's open world pvp content because it simply ruins the experience for most of the players. Nothing fun in roaming alone and get gangbanged by a bunch of players, or simply being destroyed by a better equiped or higher level player. Or maybe wanting to do quests or events, and theres a whole legion of oposing faction dudes waiting for you to get some murder.

It looks exciting when you think that it will be balanced and that people will join it. It doesn't look so good when anybody of your faction wants to help or aren't interested in that kind of thing.

Leave pvp to pvp and PVE to PVE.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. PvP servers would be PvP servers. Why would anyone who's not interested in PvP join them? Same with a PvP zone. That's why it is called a PvP zone.

The dueling circle isn't the same. While I would wish for more game modes too it is nice to have a spot to go roam around that isn't a square box.

I would say PvE lacks competition in a casual manner. If you aren't going for world first or fastest kill (which you have to dedicate blocks of time to) then there is nothing to show for. I can log into a PvP match and see how many of my teammates I can get to Battle High/Fever, how many deaths I reduce, or how much I heal for. These are tangible things I can see with in 30 minutes.

Everyone must have PTSD from previous MMO's because if you talk to most FFXI vets who participated in Ballista, loved it. If they didn't participate they didn't have any experience. They were in those same zones as again you had to register to be flagged for PvP.

Thank god your not in the developer team, with this kind of logic nothing new/good PvX things would come out of this game. lol
Wait... So you apparently didn't read any of the previous posts. When was the last time you visited Isles of Umbra? There are soooooo many dead spots in this game where you visit once and then... dead. I bet you I can go camp out on Isles of Umbra and not see a soul for a week. If anything having optional PvP content in this area would revive a currently dead zone and take minimal resources to enable.

You also haven't looked up Ballista or Wintergrasp. In WoW if you controlled Wintergrasp then it benefited your faction. Same with Ballista, you received bonuses for your hometown if you controlled the zone. That's the enticement to keep people engaged and wanting to participate. Imagine if flames controlled Isles of Umbra and you received an extra 3% durability lost boost, or 3% spirit bind boost. There are all sorts of tiny boosts that would engage people.

PvP balance went out the window with 4.0. It was far easier for a dps to take down a healer before 4.0 than post.
