Yoshi Interview at PGS

So a new interview has surfaced from Yoshi at Paris Games Week:

Specficially two parts are to my interest:

Yoshida: We're currently working in adding more wards and a system where everyone can obtain a new house fair and square for Patch 4.2. Therefore for now we don't have plans to develop a large scale apartments right now but once we get the current task done, we'd like to move foward and see what we can do with it.

If we increase more face options in the current customization it would become too real and lose the Final fantasy appeal. If we added more character customization options, the required amount of data to be transferred when characters enter instances would explode and gameplay may consequently be negatively affected.

There are a few interesting things like glamour prism changes coming in 4.2, etc.

As far as my verdict, I'm very interested in the new housing system and acquisition, but I am disappointed that in this day and age, more character customization is a pipe dream, than a reality because SE is still using servers from the 1990s. Either that, or their system is extremely flawed in constantly doing server checks.

I am sure people are not asking a character customization like Aion, where you can create a super cute angel or a deformed nigthmare worthy creature. Just... more options. Like, for instance, separate the horn from the faces on Au Ras... or just... more options, more faces to choose from. Facial hair, stuff like that.

One has to wonder if they're going to add an instanced housing system in addition to what we have. Also the idea of having apartments be more than what they are is a big WIN in my opinion. Most people simply don't want a small FC room and would probably be happy with options to have multiple rooms and other features that make them special.

It'd be nice if glamour prisms could be stored in their own tab like crystals at the very least if the devs are going to continue to use that system.

From the sound of it, I think he took it to mean people wanted more things they could customize rather than more options for things we can already change. And if that's the case, he's absolutely right, every single such thing you add is across all players in the game, the increase in data volume is absurd. And yes that would include the detachment of the horns from the face type.

I'm guessing the new wards will be released sometime after the servers have already been up. So that way everyone has a chance to be logged in and at the aetheryte.

Pros of that tidbit:
-Everyone can get a house.
That really interests me because even if he adds more wards, there is no stopping alts from getting an extra house. So I truly hope when he says everyone, he means one per acct or at the very least, one per World.

So I guess the new ps3 limitation of this expansion is now amount of char data to be transferred. Can't say I'm surprised.
