My suggestion is simple- listen to your player base!
A lot of us know what we are talking about and genuinely want to improve and help the game. For example the whole dark knight thing- people were and are so vocal on the forums just to get ignored in the end.
I'd kill vertical progression. Expand shit so that everything results in gear while scaling everything to the level of the player doing it. Instead of syncing down, sync up.
Raiding would die by my hand.

I'd like a less-is-more mentality when it comes to gear design.
It honestly feels like ever since HW released they try to cram as much detail into gear as possible and while that's not necessarily a bad thing I think it makes a lot of equipment look really cluttered and most of the time will result in them not really looking that good with any other piece of gear. Let's be real the textures in this game aren't that great so a lot of the time when equipment pieces try to be detailed they just look like a muddled mess (the Genji gear is a good example of this).
This patch actually doesn't have bad-looking gear imo but that's because it was either lifted from another game (Rabanastre gear) or they're fan creations (Skalla and Lost Allagan gear).

I would tell them to get rid of pvp since Final Fantasy games is only been about pve. Then it make more room for new lands and quest story's for pve.
I only would ask for nerf quest "Return of the Bull" lol
I cannot finish main quest 4.1 because I continue failing against that balls spam >.<

Bring over ZNM or HNM from FF11 in the form of "expert" or "savage" maps.
Restructure guildhests to modern times and make them missions to do for allied seals, giving another way to get them. Also adding more items to get from said seals.
Reintroduce set bonuses and add them to the above mentioned revitalizing of allied seals. Maybe the missing accessories from odd numbered patches since 24 man content only gives out left side stuff.
An add on for beast tribe quests that turns us into the different beasts within each tribe. Allowing us to play as them, helping in a whole new way. (Think avatar)
It feels like many of the sets have seen improvement for exactly that "less in more" reason, in my opinion. The new leveling dungeon sets often do a beautiful job with that. It just saddens me that where buttwings were thrust upon us for the final raid of ARR and HW, both, now we have the choice between a gaudy Ironworks rehash 4.0 and even gaudier lamellar dresses that are apparently suspended and expanded by hidden balloons.
It feels like two very different art teams are responsible for, say, Aery, Vault, Asuran/Doma, and Castrum Abania gear and our final raid tier sets. And now it feels like that latter team took the plate a raid tier or two earlier, for the worse.
