Hmm I'm reading a lot of stuffs that I don't like at all... People complain about the lack of content - SE makes quests related to the storyline - puts a NPC that pops random sometime a day - most of people cannot experience these contents - people complain about the lack of content...
If these events were normal sidequests maybe you would be right, but I don't find the reason why prevent players to enjoy aspects of the stoyline.
Camping a NM is one thing, camping a NPC is another one...

Sadly, when SE makes this just another boring sidequest, people will complain about it when they complete and say SE doesn't do anything "new" or "different" lol.

I've been playing MMOs for over Fifteen years. I have dabbled in at least 50 and actively played ten. There is one thing I can promise you MMOs have never done. They have never had a dynamically changing world. With the possible exception of some obscure MMO i have never heard of, FFXIV is the first MMO to have ever done anything like what we are seeing now.I'm betting you disagree because you fall into the category of players who never experienced MMORPGs before the "big bang" of casualized MMOs hit the market. MUDs/MMORPGs were infact designed so the world itself is always constantly changing even if you aren't playing, that was the beauty of playing an online rpg versus a static offline RPG. Your offline RPG will be the same no matter how many times you touch it, your online RPG will be different even when you're NOT touching.
There have been MMOs that used expansion packs to eliminate previously released parts of their game, but it was far from a dynamic experience. There has never been an MMO that had limited access story lines that lead to a dramatic overhaul of the game world.
As to your claim that no MMO has never created so much Content you cannot complete it all, three of the most name recognizable MMOs in history did just that. Everquest, World of Warcraft and Final Fanatsy XI, to date, have so much content 99% of people have literally 0 chance of completing it all. That is a simple Fact.
Well sad if they dont spawn ever again, but if it stops spawning for some time and has larger spawning times you might be curious about it, then you will start looking the times and days of spawn on the forums, the people will have theories about that NM and soon you'll be pretty much looking forward to meet it and interested in the game.
What i mean is that not everything should be silver plate handed to get people involved in the game it should drop something good but not something so important that you cant play without it. I know everyone wants to do everything and as sooner the better, but that in my oppinion is because we were spoiled in other games with easy stuff for example from WoW (i only played that one after leaving FFXI) and you could see that 2 weeks after the patch was release everyone had everything, you had a window to see what achievements certain person had in order to let him/her in the party.
And later everyone was an achievement adict, its an MMO things should take a little more longer i want to have something to do after my work.
They don't happen often enough, I'm saying this as a person who has a bit of free time and has actively tried a few times to partake.
They will be increasing how often these come up in the future.
I don't believe you have played 50 mmo's if you think this is the first one that has dynamic content (Unless you mean like you literally want the landscape to change which maybe only happened in one). You even mention one later in your post that had dynamic content that would change weekly from almost the start(or close to it) of it until today. Towards the end some of it was pretty important content like battling a super boss that had epic drops only if you had access to it for that week and even if your side had access to it you had to be sufficiently high enough rank before hand to do it so you couldn't do it on the spur of the moment it would take weeks to get to the point you would have access to it if you were starting from scratch.I've been playing MMOs for over Fifteen years. I have dabbled in at least 50 and actively played ten. There is one thing I can promise you MMOs have never done. They have never had a dynamically changing world. With the possible exception of some obscure MMO i have never heard of, FFXIV is the first MMO to have ever done anything like what we are seeing now.

This !!
Just make it so that you can only do it once a day/week or something, but the NPC should be there all the time IMO, It really irrates me how SE do this random stuff, I sure as hell don't wana waste my time camping a spawn (FF11 no thanks)
You are confusing difficultly with exclusionary. For me, all events are good and they don't have to make them more easy.
>> if it's too easy to have it, players will complain about that
When you know that each patch= 1/2/3 events. You need to search for them. You have 2/3 months before the next patch.
I don't want an easy game. If people want reward, they need to work for that.
(Sorry for my very bad english)
As someone posted above MMO's generally don't have live/random content and even in the case of say WoW prior to Cataclysm everyone was able to do the content if they took the time and effort because the NPC's where always there or walking around town somewhere. Not really -- I think a lot of people truly forgot what MMORPGs were; The world is constantly changing and evolving and while you're nice and comfortable in your bed -- That's the whole idea of "Live", if you can't experience sure it sucks but that's what MMOs are about, sometimes you simply can't experience every single thing.
Having something random and exclusionary is typical of SE, thats not what MMO's are about.
It's like a much worse case of how crafting guilds used to close in FFXI on certain days, it just spoils players enjoyment.
I'm sure you will reply something masochistic saying how you used to enjoy sitting on the crafting guild steps waiting for it to open again, "oooooo the realism its breathtaking !"

That's brilliant!A suggestion to the devs for those who aren't logged on enough to experience unique events like this:
- Change leve history evaluation from giving a generic leve to giving an alfgar-leve? That way we could continue to (use the echo) to experience all the 7th umbral era events so far.
Having random events in the world is a brilliant idea nevertheless, the problem with the Alfgar is:
- it only happens at one place or two place in the world!
- it will happen only for a limited time!
Random events shown spawn worldwide at several places so every player can experience and have a high chance to stumble on it. And, if these events are giving lore on the story of the 7th umbral era, have an NPC or something that will show us the cutscenes and tell us about what happened.
The idea of random event is good, but was poorly implemented. More accessibility please.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
