I feel like this should be applied to some of the other gauges as well, not just BLM but it is pretty hard without the colors to know which "stance" you're in.Greetings, black mages!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts regarding the color blind user experience with the simplified BLM job gauge. We've passed this information along to the dev. team, and they're planning on adjusting the simple gauge in the future so that color blind users can better differentiate between Astral Fire and Umbral Ice.
We appreciate the feedback!
If you're talking about tank stances, they all have different icons to indicate it by the left of the gauge. Something like that would fix BLM issue too, maybe. Or at least aliviate it. Making it by a shape recognizion like many color-based raid mechanics do.
Since this thread got dev attention I'd like to say that showing the Polyglot timer in actual numbers would be really neat and help BLMs a lot in judging if they can hold it or shold cast it in the moments Polyglots almost overlap. Right now all we have is a clock-like gauge split in 6 dividers or 5 seconds each or just a plain simple bar with no refference on the simplified gauge.

I would really appreciate the astral/umbral timer on the simplified BLM gauge being white on a black background (as it is on the full gauge) rather than yellow on black as it is now. I find the white much more readable, and am kind of stuck with the bigger gauge for that reason.
I agree with this, though at this point it should probably be a toggled thing. I won't know for sure if I really want it until I have it because two simultaneous numbers might just be a headache. It's not important most of the time, but yeah, there are times where knowing the last 5-10 seconds to Polyglot is relevant. Of course, such tracking wouldn't be needed if Foul was just instant like it should be, but that's a gameplay suggestion, not UI.Since this thread got dev attention I'd like to say that showing the Polyglot timer in actual numbers would be really neat and help BLMs a lot in judging if they can hold it or shold cast it in the moments Polyglots almost overlap. I'm not sure if this post counts as necroing, but considering the colorblind change went in just a couple days ago, I say it doesn't.

Yes the colorblind change is live. It's pretty good and noticiable now. I'm not colorblind myself but the color change makes the simple UI way more pleasant now. But again, not using simple gauge because I can count Polyglot time with more precision on normal gauge.

Omg I actually see the difference now xD
It helps so much
just the foul build up could use a real timer, cant say for sure how much longer till its full (like if one B4 cast will be enough...)... blm in most end raids is ffing hard enough, dont need to try to "estimate" the foul build up too..

You really get used to counting the Polyglot timer by the 5s partitions of regular gauge after a long while but still... That is not helpful to new Black Mages at all and you can't really track on simple gauge.
Personal preference I suppose but I find the original gauge to be much better than the simple one, plus they put all the work into making it look all pretty~
A different texture might solve the problem as well, even if it is "simple" gauge, by the way.
I personally simply use it every time I go in umbral. I lost too many foul to à movement while trying to optimise.
Maybe it's a slight dps loss against a scenario where I would use it at the perfect time, but at least I don't loose any foul
