I thought at first this is similar to how S-rank hunts are triggered. But even if it weren't, I'm not sure how different this would be from monster hunts as a basic concept.

If it's going to be a big open-world primal encounter, how about making the encounter more "strategic"?

For example, there could be multiple locations on the instanced map where a beast tribe is hoarding crystals to summon/empower the primal. This would require separate teams of players to hunt and destroy these camps, while a point-team tackles the primal.

I would also love scenarios where DoH and DoL can contribute to the battle by crafting or bringing in resources that make the fight easier.

Think of it as translating a real-time strategy game to an MMO setting, I guess.
