There's been a major ISP outage several hours ago. And looks like there is some issues popping back up. The routes and servers in California are having issues.
Left my computer logged into the game all day. Came back tonight and it's still connected, so the problem isn't lying with the game server at all, but most likely a routing issue due to you guys ISP. Maybe something to do with the wildfires or something. It's not the first time that west coasters have had massive problems with routing issues. Not by a long shot.
I connect to the same California servers as you all do, and have not had any problems whatsoever, and I'm further away, in Tennessee.
had some issues here, had everyone in my instance get the DC symbol and they all complained of lag, hell even had half of my pvp match vanish as they all DC'd
Hmm well I'm back ingame just fine right now. Having a long que time also doesn't mean that the game is under a DDoS attack. It's tuesday. All bonuses reset, and more people login on tuesday than any other day. You're world is probably just at capacity right now. If you get a que, best bet is to let it just sit there. When I get those, it takes me 5-10 min to get in, however, if you back out of anything, you will go back to the end of the line queue will go down pretty fast if you just let it sit there for a few. If it were a DDoS attack, I would be having the same issues as you as it isn't world specific, but server wide.
For those complaining that this site is loading slow aswell, remember that this site runs independantly, not on the game server! That tidbit alone should tell you that it's a routing issue. When game was under DDoS attack at launch, these forums loaded up just fine. If you're desprate, use a free trial of WTFast. It may help you until the outage is fixed.
I'm in NC and have been having severe intermittent lag and offline status being set all morning. My guess is the problem is not with the ISPs but with the NTT backbone or SE server gateway.

During the below times, network technical difficulties were caused by DDoS attacks directed at upper tier ISPs required to connect to the NA data centers. After monitoring the situation, we have coordinated with the upper ISPs to reinforce defensive measures.
We will continue to coordinate with the upper tier ISP to resolve the situation.
[Date & Time]

[Details]
Players may be experiencing the following issues:
・Disconnected from NA Data Center Worlds
・Difficulty logging in to NA Data Center Worlds
・Difficulty accessing and sending and receiving data from NA data centers
[Affected Service]
FINAL FANTASY XIV
Southern California, a mere couple hundred miles from the server. Intermittent lag spikes, experience at the same time as the 3 to 23 other people, causing loss of combos, skipped oGCDs, etc. Spikes upwards of 500 ping, from a norm of 25.
I really didn't think about DDoS attacks on the ISP themselves, however, I still do believe it's ISP related. You can try to use a manual google dns number or something to try to ride on something besides your ISP's backbone.

There's a DDoS attack against NA ISPs and backbone connections that started last night and it's been going on until now, yes. I don't know about the EU servers though.
I was lagging a bit in O3S last night, but not as bad as the people who were pokeballing and getting 90k'd. I'm on Verizon and the people who were d/cing were using Comcast. Give it another day or so to settle while the ISPs work to mitigate the issue.
