    Eternal Bonding Ceremony Suggestions

So I just attended an Eternal Bonding ceremony today, and while I'm happy for the couple and their new giant chocobo (as well as the minion, thanks guys), I can't help but feel that the ceremony itself could be made way more interesting, mainly because my previous long-term MMO had way more interesting weddings. In fact, they had two different types of weddings; you could choose between a western-styled ceremony, or a Chinese-styled one, with the couple being given different outfits based on which one they chose.

But I digress. The thing is, FF XIV weddings basically involve a couple of pretty cutscenes and the opportunity to take some fancy photos. While that's nice, there's also a whole lot more potential. Drawing on my aforementioned MMO, weddings in there involved a "Jealous Ex" gate-crashing the wedding to steal the bride away, forcing the groom and guests to fight him off. I'm not saying to copy that idea, but I am saying that it would be way more interesting than just showing up and sitting there to watch cutscenes.

So, what are some suggestions you have to improve on the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, whether as the couple or the guests?

Hmmm, I do believe that your character can wear anything to the wedding besides the lovely dress/suit that you get for the eternal bonding; so if you want your wedding to be western-styled, tell your guests to dress western style, Chinese? Go-ahead! But the place stays the same sadly. As for "a jealous ex" to crash a wedding? Perhaps one of your friends may accidentally invite someone that you rejected from the past to the ceremony and BOOM! DRAAAAMA!! Lol Basically, what makes weddings interesting is the people that you invite I've been to plenty of weddings and some just invite random people and who knows what will happen as soon as we go inside the chapel XDD

I'm sure it's just a rumor, but I thought I heard one time that they were going to add in more stuff to the eternal bonding ceremony and we should see it around patch 4.5.

My only two suggestions are they should add new location(s) and maybe (I'm gonna get yelled at for this) give us the option to marry NPCs. (you don't have to give me the reasons why the idea won't work because I already know, but I still wish for it to happen XD)

A far eastern theme would be great.

As for drama? There's a picture floating around on the net showing the new couple getting a 6-7 gun salute...of Magitek Mechs. (with them as the target)

I actually liked the wedding and the small quests to test your loyalty to each other. I got to see the sights and spend time with my RL boyfriend in game. We got married in the game like we would love to in RL. I’m not sure if I would want a “jealous ex” being as a majority of my exes were nice at first but then became too comfortable and started being jerks. I really don’t need any NPC crashing my joyous day...

The best wedding, which I was the Maid of Honor in, was spent running around - rushing the alter - and then everyone strippin down to their bikinis and trying to leap into the fountain. HEY, SQUARE ENIX, what gives!?! We wanted to swim and you put invisible walls up!! You ruined everything yah buzzkill. LOL!

Maybe make it an option but I enjoyed my non-wedding crashed wedding...

Once again: the "Jealous Ex" was just one example. It doesn't even have to be a mandatory part of the wedding. Maybe there could be a preset list of events that you can pick and choose from. Maybe there could be FATE-style events or little mini-games for guests to take part in, with simple tasks.

For example: Have a simple contest for guests, maybe one where the couple throws out items that spawn for them to pick up (throwing the bridal bouquet) and each guest gets points for each item picked up. The rewards and prizes could be equally small, like aetheryte tickets. Or just give us something reminiscent of the Haunted Manor's games.

Also, for that matter, weddings should totally have buffet tables and bars.
