    Ast help

So As of last night I FINALLY managed to clear V4S, and now I really want to start working on ultimate. Unfortunately, I have not been feeling satisfied with my performance, as my fflogs are not where I'd like them to be. I really would like to improve, as there are other amazing astros I really look up to and aspire to be. This is why I'm here, hoping some could lend a sister Astro some advice? Maybe this isn't the best place for this, but I'm not sure where else to turn. I

've heard a lot could be seen through the magic of fflogs. If so, how do you think I've been doing? Am I even close to ultimate ready? I know there aren't many astros (if any) doing ultimate, but I really do want to give it a shot eventually at least...

You're already looking at FFlogs. Start clicking around. Take a look at the different views it offers you. Notice how it shows buff uptimes, DoT uptimes, when you're using certain CDs, how many of a certain spell you're casting, and so on.

Now, look at some of those ASTs you aspire to be like. Look at all those little details for them. What are they doing differently than you? Simply casting more? Using CDs at certain times? etc. Now you have a target.

To add to Risver, you shouldn't be too disheartened by your logs if you're playing optimally yourself. Unfortunately we're the only role that need to fix other people's mistakes and that can often come at a huge cost to our own output. Try to push yourself the best you can, but sometimes getting those high numbers is simply not an option if our group doesn't allow it.

The only thing you do have control over is how you play with your co-healer. Some people still take the MH/OH route, but with each healer having such potent CDs it's simply not an optimal way of playing. Don't get stuck in a group where your co-healer wants to DPS 99% of the time and leave you doing all the healing.

And finally, this one may be a little controversial, but just enjoy Ultimate and see it as a way to improve overall rather than going for the clear. For the majority of us, myself included, I can't actually see myself completing this fight as it's pretty hellish. However I have noticed that it has made o4s a breeze, and I'm sure will equip us very, very well to deal with the next raid tier. If you go in purely for the sake of progression and clearing it, you may get frustrated very fast.
