I am a mentor, I enjoy mentoring however I can not help if it’s thordan or zurvan. I personally have a hard time with those fights, I play almost every day for extensive hours and provide as much help as I possibly can. I haven’t don’t savage raiding tho just out of no interest in it, I don’t think it’s fair to say I shouldn’t be a mentor because I don’t have raid experience or I have problems with 1 or 2 ex primals. Everyone is going to have fights they just don’t excel at. On top of that maybe you forgot but some people are pvp mentors or crafting mentors, they shouldn’t be punished for maybe not knowing ex fights sync.

In our defense, at least in my case, it seems like the norm response to mentors anyways.

So we either assume every non-listener is a troll or legit serious. And given how some people can think... I end up thinking legit serious.

well in their defence, a lot of players (nlot just mentors) don't know how to help, or give advice. they start with an insult and try to force help on others.

I was almost ready to level a healer class (I never really touched healer in mmorpgs I play, personal preference) to get mentor because I've always enjoyed helping people, its fun more often than not. The mount would be a bonus, who wouldn't want new stuff in games? Though mainly would be even more enjoyable to run trials/dungeons with people, clear them and go along our merry way happily? Maybe make a couple new friends too. But with all the backlashes and whatnot I've been seeing people receiving...I guess its not a world of fun and playtime. I'll just stick with helping out close friends and FC members.

To be honest, Glenfidish is exactly the kind of problem I am talking about. And why are you calling me out on using big bad words on this forum as if that is somehow an example as to how I behave in game as a mentor. Do teachers have to be polite and kind and forgiving when they are in a café? Funny fact about my mentor run of 2000, I obtained 2.7k commendations from them and met various mentors who absolutely loved it that I was there. I always helped and definitely never insulted. You seem to forget that I am not a mentor here, that I am on the forum. So if I decide to say that this game, especially sprouts are full of self entitled asshats, then it's not unreasonable at all.

Whatever requirement you setup for become mentor, 99%+ of people will go there just to reap the rewards.

My respect goes to the few people that are really there for helping others.

I have the crown, but I don't have all the EX cleared. In the past I would run the mentor roulette, but gave up on the mount because it was way too many runs required and the effort required was crazy. However most of the time when you run mentor roulette before SB dropped as a tank I would get easy things like Satasha and stuff that was mainly in leveling roulette.

    I've unlocked the Mentor roulette.

I've done it all of 0 times.

It's just not worth it. I knew it as soon as I saw this system being introduced that it would be just terrible. At this point, I just did it to get the status and be done with it. I'm not even caring about the mount.

But in no way do I go ahead and activate mentor status. The novice network isn't even on for me.

It isn't that I dislike helping people. I just don't ever see the ability that this system could be anything but toxic when people need to follow mechanics and most don't even research.

I wouldn't be sad whatsoever with this system being removed entirely.

    My two gil.

When you activate your Mentor status, you are notified of what is expected.

"Your online status will be set to "Mentor". Other players will be able to identify you as a mentor while this setting is active.

    As a mentor, you are expected to actively perform the following;
    1. Provide gameplay advice for new adventurers and other players.
    2. Be an exemplar for player etiquette.
    3. Invite new adventurers to the Novice Channel, and answer their queries on the chat channel."

Seeing as any Mentor who uses the Mentor Roulette has their status automatically updated to show they are a Mentor (if they have it turned off), the above really should be expected of them all during that time. Now whether players choose to follow this or do whatever they want, well it's up to them and there is no way to enforce this, but do consider that any Mentor behaviour where you help others is always appreciated by novices and other mentors alike.
