I don't think most people agree on what Yoshi P was talking about, which was why I asked for a clarification earlier (and still haven't gotten a definitive answer to).
At this point, I think we're all just fill in the blank as we want. >w>

Seriously, if they can't add a couple new facial designs or just the ability to mix and match facial features (freckles and eyeliner pls?) without the game imploding, then it's probably time to upgrade.
They're going to need an upgrade for sure. When the next expansion comes it's almost going to be 6 years since ARR and that's a pretty good time for an upgrade.

You do realize they got new servers when the datracenter changed right? They didn't move the old servers when they did the move lol. It's likely not server hardware causing the limitations, other than physics limitations on network traffic, but server coding thats the cause of the "limitations and server problems"
It was clarified a few pages ago that they can add anything in the currently available options, which includes the faces, face parts and facial features.
They just can't add a new category like the body scars, body hair or body tattoos people also want.
Well, I didn't say anything about servers. You do realize they got new servers when the datracenter changed right? They didn't move the old servers when they did the move lol. It's likely not server hardware causing the limitations, other than physics limitations on network traffic, but server coding thats the cause of the "limitations and server problems"

I was vague, but I was implying something about the game's engine and coding, yes. I'm aware about the server upgrades though.
And I do kinda question how much fairer a lottery system truly is. Maybe people will not need luck to get on the server on time but instead of that they need one heck of a luck to even get a house in the lottery. Also depending on the way they do this people with lots of gils might have bigger chances to obtain a house. (Like if you can bet on each plot if you have the Gil available) At the same time if you can "buy" your lottery ticket beforehand we will have even more people trying to get their hands on houses since now even those that work or are otherwise not able to play the game can buy a ticket and get a chance to own a house. This may be good for them but at the same time this increases the pool of possible house owners a lot thus decreasing the chances for each person itself more. So in the end if they dont increase the wards by a huge amount of numbers most players will probably still be without a house..especially if they use a system where you need to put money down to even bet on this which will decrease the chance for those that have less Gil..I'm struggling to find many ways that they will make this fair. My thoughts are 1) new wards will be created as they fill up, letting everyone get a house if they want, and 2) some sort of lottery system where they can register ahead of time.
It's not going to be fair if people still need to contend with server queues or possibly another 3 a.m. PST launch.
So I still cant see how such a system would change the housing situation at all.
Also I do kinda question if that means that any old house that open up over the time has such a system too so that you cant just simply buy a house anymore and need to relay on luck even outside the first housing rush..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
You're probably right. It would have the potential to heavily favor those FCs/individuals that have hordes of money saved up. At this point, I'm just really curious as to their plans for the next housing release.
In my perfect world, they'd just make new wards available as they fill up. Or maybe just bring on instanced housing as not everyone needs to have that neighborhood feel.
I want to know more about this.Patch 4.2 is scheduled to see huge changes for Glamours.
Can it be a system more like WoW's?
I hope it's a system more like WoW's...
So easy to use, so easy to remember what you have/still need. No need to search through endless retainer inventories.
Feel free to add in gil-sinks anywhere you see necessary, just make it more user-friendly!
