Aether / Primal Difference ?

Primal is definitely a NA server. I've been on Primal since arr beta and I love it. The majority of people I've run into in duty finders are nice. I'm on Leviathan which is the most populated world on Primal afiak. The only time we have queue to wait through are a few days at release of a new expansion and the 10 minutes after the release of new housing. I highly recommend Primal.

my totally anecdotal experience has been: anytime you see a person complaining about their duty finder experiences it turns out they're on Aether, so take that as you will.

The two data centers should be identical from a technical perspective, they're not located on different coasts or anything like that, same ping to either of them. It's just a split in the NA playerbase between the two, but in terms of avg. data center population I think they're about equal there too.

I heard Aeither is complete Cancer but the come from my very dramatic Server Diabolos in Primal.

Dude... How can you say there's a whole lot of misinformation and then drop the BIGGEST misinformation in the thread? The EU datacenter is Chaos. Aether and Primal are both NA.

There isn't a difference. Aether might have more roleplayers since both "RP servers" are on it, but I've encountered them like...twice, in four years of playing, and only one of those two was annoying (to the point that they were more than likely a troll, not a genuine RPer). Everyone else is normal.

Whooops sorry I was wrong. O.o I never realized primal was NA too, since the only people I've ever interacted with or talked to on Primal have been EU based. I wonder why there's such a big EU population on primal if Chaos is so much closer to them?

There's a whole lot of mis-information going on here. Primal is a EU based datacenter, and Aether is an NA based one. That's the biggest difference. It's recommended to choose a datacenter you're closest too for ping response times, unless you have friends on a certain datacenter. Choosing a server based on population depends on your preferences for playing FFXIV.r.

Probably just people who were there before Chaos and didn't want to leave their friends.
I have many EU mates in.my FC. Sure we did lose a few to the new data centre but many did prefer to stay.
