This is actually a pretty good idea to keep Boss Fates Relevant.

I really like this idea. It would give people more incentives to do fates over just spamming PotD
It would be nice to see the world maps actually active and have another way to earn Allied/Centurio Seals. Would it also be too much to ask to have more special/primal Fates like Odin in other world map zones? It would be nice to fight a miniature Ifrit that gives out not only seals but special armor for beating him a certain number of times, like Odin and Ixion. :O

This would be fantastic. I actually enjoy boss fates, but yeah...nobody really does them.
When he says boss fates, I think he means things like Evil Seed in the Fringes, not the Special Boss Fates like Odin and such. I am 100% behind this too, by the way. I would be a lot more likely to spend 5-10 minutes on a boss fate if I knew I was gonna get 25-50 seals or what have you. As it stands I have not even seen a boss fate like Evil Seed, or Thank You Mammoth, even being done for a month and a half, maybe longer. I hope they do this, as it would also even give hunt groups something to do between spawns, provided there is ever just dead time while doing that. I wouldn't know, personally. Either way, this can only be good. ^_^

Fates don't get used much because of the rewards and gameplay. Many complained having to do relic steps by grinding low level fates.
Want better xp?
Dungeons
Want more company seals currency?
Trade in high level dungeon drops for seals, faster than spamming fates.
Want more dynamic mechanics from enemies?
Instanced dungeons
Got level 70 and want to do fates for seals world wide?
Seal quantities low for most of the game areas and you can't use half your skills if you sync down.
- If you put centurio in fates, you have less people doing normal hunts.
- If you put tombstones in fates, you have less people doing dungeons.
- If you put MGP in fates, you have less people visiting gold saucer.
- If you put raid drops in fates, you have less people doing raids.
What do fates need?
- Big boost in company seals especially fates above level 20, make it the best way to earn company seals
- Nerf to gear trade in for seals
- Add fate specific aquired glamours, minions, emotes, and gear
Examples:
Fight Six arms= Get crabshell armor, emotes motion with hands of breaking a shell open
Sharknado= Get sharkskin themed armor, emotes motion of hands above head sharkfin
Steropes- Get cyclops helmet with eye in center, emotes 100-Tonze Swing or
Glower
Perhaps you get all the specific fate drops you want then the desire to do more would dissipate. Unless, more pieces could drop after aqcuiring the initial drops or different flavors of the drops were added, differences such as color changes on drops following afterwards.
Introduce enemy skill materia:
Materia earned by receiving exposure to special skills certain enemies do.
These materia are degradable allowing up to 10 cast of special skill then they are disposed of and must be re-acquired.
Introduce BCNM/Guildleve type instances where X number of drops from fates give access to this instance.
In this instance there are harder versions of the open world fate. The seals are greater, the xp is greater, the enemy skill materia can be powered up to + whatever versions with more potency or flair. The mechanics are more varied and punishing, perhaps more enemies.
Hunts do need some work, but I wouldn't jumble it together with hunts.

Any of the fates that have achievements related to them need to have further incentive to do them, hunt rewards are a good idea.
I once saw hunt groups Zerg 2 mobs in one zone... Shouted to ask if they would come kill the rare fate that has achievement to kill... 3 people showed up.

Boss FATEs are all well and good, but, personally, I'd rather see more FATE chains. Ones that have some sort of impact on the world, such as Breaching/Defending the Hive.
With enough world impact, the FATEs could even be something players always have incentive to do (ok, maybe not always if players just don't spend time in the zones, which is probably a bigger core problem).
As an example (maybe outdated, but I've only just gotten into HW), when I first explored the Coerthas Western Highlands, and saw Camp Riversmeet, I saw a world of possibility. This is a zone that Ishgard is trying to get a foothold in again, and an abandoned settlement. I can envision a whole series of FATEs to take back control. Defending an expedition from Falcon's Nest towards the camp. It's a long trek, so maybe even the expedition you defend in FATE 1 needs to stop to make camp, which itself needs defending. Getting to the camp and clearing the ice, rebuilding, and eventually having an aetheryte/sanctuary available, until eventually one of the megaboss Odin-level FATEs attack. Either you successfully defend the camp to keep it active, or it's overrun and lost until the chain starts again.
I do recognize that this would be a pretty big time investment. Honestly, I think that's the cool part. Maybe you don't get to experience it all in one go for a while. Being lucky enough to be on site when it starts, and having the time to stick with it all the way. But at the same time, I love the idea of that much impact, of a temporary camp of FATE NPCs resting up mid-trek for a bit, a settlement being periodically attacked by lesser enemies (standard FATEs), at some unpredictable time having to defend from an actual big threat. It might take a long time to actually experience every link in the chain, but giving each step, and the whole, some bit of permanence, makes it that much more satisfying. Why defend the Highbridge when you know it'll just be attacked again 20 minutes later?
Idk. Just feel that if we we want more people interacting with the world, the world should be reactive to it.

SE can't keep giving us perpetual carrots to chase though. Even if you add seals, sooner or later the people who cared about such a thing will have all of the seals they need and wont bother with the FATEs anymore, bringing us right back to square one. We already have people regularly ignoring Hunt calls because they don't need or want anything that the seals would earn them.
If it's because you want to experience the old FATEs or want the rewards from them (which I 100% suspect this thread is actually about), just make a PF or ask your FC or people to come help you. If they aren't going to help you now, it's unlikely they would behave any differently if the FATE offered hunt seals too.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
