My g/f has ASD and communicating can be hard for her, her trick is separate yourself from your character. How do you want your character to act? you don't need to role play either.

She got this trick from a guy who for 4 years, she though was a girl. He made a female elvaan samuria and was pretty popular he said he didn't care of ppl thought he was a boy or girl, as people was meeting his character, not him. He was playing ff11 to escape irl. A lot of people do, tons of ppl play who have depression and anxiety.

but the beauty of playing mmorpg is you can be anyone you want, no rp required. Do you wanna be a hero? wanna be a villian? do you want to set up a craft shop, and sell items you make and services? do you want to be a contracted gatherer helping crafters get mats?

    again no rp required.

i met my g/f in ff14, im very quiet and anti social. I was a female miqo'te at the time, and she was a lalafell. She said i made a cool miqo'te and we just got to talking, she had just joined the fc my friend from high school used to ran. She was shy/ anti social and mostly talk to him at first then became more open.

they ended up having a fight sadly, but instead of leaving she sought me out for comfort, seeing I was a good person. From then on we dated 4 years in game, and she moved in with me last year.

So if someone who is not very social, and someone with Autism can meet up, then anyone can do anything.

pro tip though, don't force yourself. It tends to backfire bad. If you see a person with cool glamour, say "hey cool glam" or "hey cool outfit"
