i just meant if it was taking 30 minutes to Q as DPS then they just have the option to use a squad member, they wouldn't be forced to, primary would still be too pickup people for the first 5 minutes then you have the option after that. If you like just sitting there waiting for 30 minute Queues you can still do that.
My suggestion is to find things to do while waiting for that queue to pop. The reason DPS have long queues is that the role is essentially overpopulated compared to healer and tank. Part of this is the generic trend of MMORPG populations that generally follow this trend unless game balance causes healers or tanks to be OP. Also another factor is that we only have 3 healer and tank jobs but a total of 9 DPS jobs.i just meant if it was taking 30 minutes to Q as DPS then they just have the option to use a squad member, they wouldn't be forced to, primary would still be too pickup people for the first 5 minutes then you have the option after that. As far as the adventure squad filling slots... I'd rather not have my healer and or tank in every group be a bot.
Except the suggestion is being made due to lack of other players/roles being available. MMO is all well and good until you have to waste 30mins+ just to do a simple dungeon. (if you only have 2-3hrs to play, thats a huge deal)
Options need to be available
The Command missions seem like a beta for eventually adding in NPCs to fight alongside players in dungeons. It'll probably work the same as Undersized parties though in that you can't use them in instances that are considered current content, once they get added atleast.
Wish I could like this comment 1400 times.
I used to play an mmo that added what the OP is asking and it turned the mmorpg into a desert where people play alone with their little controllable party.
That's what you do in dying mmos
A suggestion that works with what we have is to make more/funner tanks. Add 2 new and unique tanks as new jobs in 5.0 for example.
Also you should consider joining small FCs with people who would help you tank dungeons. Big FCs don't do that ironically.

One can only hope... New players learn absolutely nothing from the rush-grubs infesting the leveling roulettes, where most mechanics are ignored anyway. The Command missions seem like a beta for eventually adding in NPCs to fight alongside players in dungeons. I always liked the idea of a roulette in which one would receive some sort of exp multiplier for having different types of jobs unlocked. For example, have a dps and healer that meet an ilvl requirement for a certain set of roulettes? 1.5 the normal xp and you play whichever based on community need but all exp goes to the job you queued up with at the time. Another increase to the exp modifier if one also possesses a tank that meets the minimum ilvl for whichever roulette you fancy, thereby allowing you the greatest utility.
Ilvl could lock people out the same way levels do, not allowing one to queue into roulette duties that require a higher ilvl than one posseses on said class.
I feel as though that would not only have the potential to speed up the queues for dps as not everyone would end up as what they originally queued as, it would also add excitement as well as a possible appreciation for the different jobs and (though I feel I am dreaming) an added amount of patience and understanding for hopefully everyone in the DF. In reality it may just devolve into "I can do A with X skill, why can't you?" but I prefer to be optimistic. I also realize that many will have no interest in the exp modifier as their passion for a job or type will deter them, and such is fine, but those who simply want to level without the long waits could certainly take advantage of this.
For those who worry about this becoming a scenario akin to jump potions, I feel as though people that are good are good, or become so quickly. Those that aren't never quite catch up, so the issue isn't really people not playing their jobs thoroughly and being unable to assist a party at maximum potential, it is more that people will continue to play to their individual maximum potential regardless, they will just get to 70 faster, which will happen either way.
Don't want to to queue into the true roulettte? Don't! Simple enough. Perhaps queue times will be more equal now that others have the option. Mainly I just like the idea of not knowing what you will be doing, queue to queue. Sounds like my kind of spice. Just my two cents.

Getting flashbacks of Guild Wars all over again. Not necessarily a bad thing (if done right). There's pros and cons to doing this type of thing in an MMO though. Sure you can allow dps classes to use npcs (let's be real, they're the only ones waiting around for long periods of time) but just like in Guild Wars when this was implemented people became less social and you had less people to run with because everyone was now able to do it themselves. It becomes more of a solo experience than anything else at that point.
Just some things to keep in mind.
