Why are you still playing this game?

All the reasons why I continue to play can be encompassed by the fact that I enjoy my time online. It really is that simple. I don't really do relevant progression raids, and haven't even progressed the MSQ in weeks, which are very popular activities. Yet, I am always finding something fun and engaging to do. I'm not a new player either. I've been playing since Heavensward was released.

Troll or not OP, my reaction to your post is the same to all others like it, and that's the true question is if you can't find anything enjoyable about the game, why are you here?

1. The aesthetic is just right for me. Can't say the same for most other MMOs.
2. Waiting for Monster Hunter: World.
3. Laziness.

I started FFXIV:ARR having high hopes for the Reborn, and the hopes for things like add-ons, proper housing, more interesting stats, etc. gradually died away. At the moment I'm kind of just waiting for my subscription to expire.

The limisted housing, officially giving up on add-ons, static encounters, timed gathering nodes, etc. is moving FFXIV further and further away from what I prefer. So it's quite likely that I'd finally leave FFXIV when my subs run out in January, unless they make some really exciting announcements.

Glamour, socialization, community. This game is much like second life, where you can have your own space to create and charm/impress people. If they expanded the sand box options many people would never quit.

1. Base sub is cheaper than WoW (though I do miss playing WoW).

2. I have more friends playing FFXIV

I've taken breaks off and on. Stormblood fixed a lot of issues I had though, so I can see myself not taking any breaks anymore. I love the game and well, that's why I play, lol. I've loved Final Fantasy since I was a kid and I just want to be involved in it.

Second Life is amazing for the freedom you have in it, but there's little direction and user-created content isn't always the most optimized or nice (and it's expensive; all adds up). But, I was totally addicted to Second Life for the past 5 years and it's only been FFXIV that has replaced that addiction.

Why I play is because the game is visually attractive (which matters a lot to me), the content is hard enough for me to enjoy (because I admit I'm not great at these games) without getting frustrated, and I came in late enough (just started in July) that most of the content will be new to me even when it's old to most everyone else. Plus, I've met some pretty fun people, too!

The answer is quite obvious. Anyone that does anything, including play this game, does so because they want to. It's that simple. If there was absolutely no reason to want to play this game, be it for yourself or for your friends, you wouldn't now would you?
