Why are you still playing this game?

I'm still playing this game because I love it. I love the stories and the crafting and making friends and seeing old friends every day. I have friends on here that I played with in FFXI (which I played for over 6 years) so we've been together for almost 12 years now.

I love helping new people. One of my favorite things in this game is to walk up to a sprout hand them 50 - 100k and run away. Or see a sprout who needs help and stopping to heal them while they finish their quest/fate/whatever. I run a linkshell for helping new people and have an FC for the same reason. People come and go from both but the core group stays and we keep helping others. That's what keeps the game fun for me.

I also enjoy crafting and gathering. All my gathering is at 70 and my crafting is on the way from 60 to 70. So, I'll be entertained for a while working on that. I'm also enjoying gardening, as I've just gotten into that. I like doing treasure maps and doing hunts.

I enjoy decorating my houses (one fc one personal) and gathering the ingredients to craft the furniture. It takes me hours to get everything just how I like it.

I have a whm and a smn at 70 but can't say I much bother with endgame per se. If my friends want to do something I'll jump in if they need me, I've helped with many a pony/bird farming run. I don't bother much with raids but will go if needed. I still have a lot of jobs to lvl if I ever do get bored, which I don't see happening any time soon.

People who don't like to help others and/or just want to fly thru the msq and do raids probably do get bored because they are cutting off 90% of the game and just doing one little portion.

Further more any challenging content is just a harder version of existing content.

You do realize that this type of logic can eliminate the worth of challenging content in any video game? You can put this to any game unless the genre were to change.

Why play League of Legends? Any challenge in the game is just a harder version of your older game experience.
Why play rated Overwatch? It's the same matches just harder?

Maybe you can be the first to make a game that changes genres based on your skill level.

Because the Fantasy MMO market on PS4 is crap.
Because I still find a challenge in the game, even if the most trying aspect is just other players sometimes.

I'm enjoying the Story, the world is beautiful and fun to run around in. I still have lots of jobs to level and progress. I'm now playing with my squadron and learning to command them.

I still play because I'm still having fun with the game. Soon as that ceases to be the case, I'll go play something else.

PVP is exciting because the targets fight back. They need to be tricked or trapped, and that's exciting. Does it suck when I feel held down by someone on my team? Of course, but the moments when things go right? That's what gets me excited.

I explained to my fiance that bosses dont fight back in this game, it's just a dance you have to learn. And I tell him that people aren't like bosses, they try to fight you. But they also fear you and don't want to die, and killing someone who doesn't want to die is exciting. Likewise, when I'm killed I like to get that person back if I can (in frontlines only). He said I sounded like a serial killer, and we both have a long history of playing fighting games!
