    Feeling ripped off

Square Enix sent me an email to inform me they were gonna take housing away from inactive players. So I activated my account for about 2 months even though I wasn't playing at the time. Then after those 2 months ran out I got an email saying they were still gonna take my FC House. I was shocked and pissed they would still do this after I activated my account. Now I came back for Stormblood . I did not know I only had so many days to claim my money and other things from my House . So I was duped out of that also. SO after all that I was still willing to just work for another mansion. But to my surprise there is no housing to be had anywhere with other FCs having multiple housing plots... So now I feel like a 2nd class subscription in the square enix world .. I played FF11for a long time and FFxiv from the original launch. Not happy with how I have been treated.................................

Yeah, in those notices they mentioned you have to actually enter the house....not just sub....kudos to you for not reading it thoroughly. On the bright side, it looks like it worked as intended.

On the other hand, 4.2 is when they're thinking of doing a housing hunger games 2.0 so that's something to shoot for if you really need a house.

You know why players lose their houses when they don't use their house for too long?
Because there isn't nearly enough houses for everyone, and players who aren't using their houses obviously do not need them.

So inactive players lose housing so active players can have a chance to get a house.

(The requirement to not lose your house is to enter it at least once every 45 days. Just being subscribed is not enough.)

You say you did not know. Why did you not find out? I imagine that mail you got had that information or pointed to where it could be found.

Doesn't seem like you've been playing FFXIV "from original launch" if you don't know how housing works in this game. You had plenty of time from receiving the email and resubbing to enter the house... and the fact that you didn't touch it once is both on you, and indicative of the fact that you never used the housing system when you did play. Why should others be locked out of the system so that you can have a pretty that you never play with? And by that same token, why should something you never used when you had it suddenly make you feel second rate now that it's gone?

Now, if you were in and out of that house the whole time you were subbed and were subbed continuously from that point on, so that you could peep in on the house enough to keep reclaim from working as intended, then that's likely to be a bug in the housing system and should be reported as such. But the fact that you missed out on getting your housing items and Gil back, which as I said, you should know you have a limited time to retrieve, makes me think that you spent a fair amount of your time inactive and/or unsubbed. If that's not the case then I'd urge you to report it as a bug, but if it is the case, you should just take it as a loss and decide whether you want to play this game long-term in order to own a house. Many other mmo's outside of final fantasy have very similar housing reclaim systems and for every one of them, the point is the same: you have to remain an active and/or paying member of the community as opposed to inactive members holding on to an advantage that active subscribers eventually get locked out of.

You messed up. You're redirecting your anger to the wrong person.

You are given ample notice by SE when your house is about to be demolished. You are told that you must login and enter your house to prevent it.

If you really lost your house, you clearly didn't read the email that was sent to you. Housing is a valuable commodity, and as a neighbor to someone who used to treat his house like a dump and never logs in, I was very happy when his house got demolished, because it was purchased by 2 lovely players who my entire FC had become close friends with. [True story]

So yeah, you lost your house because you didnt login for months. Maybe you should've logged in and entered your house.

uhhhh FC's can only have ONE, ONE SINGLE HOUSE. not 4-5 that is impossible. a character can have ONE HOUSE. but players can create alts and alt FCs to snatch them up if they want, which is really unfair .... but yeah FC's can't have more than one house x'D also another thing, uh if I remember right, the auto demolish has not been turned back on. Unless they put it back on without saying anything, reason it was turned off? Hurricanes hitting the US in a mass wave. So, uh how did you lose your house? o.O also if it was an FC house, it could of been ANYONE in it that could of gone inside of it if they are a member and stopped the timer, when it was turned on. o3o!~ also SE DOES mention in that email they send to the property owner of the auto demolish, that they have x amount of time to a) log in, b) go inside the house and c) claim their items. So you have really no reason to complain about losing anything, when you failed to read the entire email. (:<

I think he is referring to FC's who's members buy personal houses in the same ward and it appears at first glance that the FC owns the whole chunk of the neighborhood within that ward because of the FC tags everywhere but in reality, it is just one FC house with its member's personal houses near it. But aside from confusion, "house flipping", that is the purchase of house plots with the sole intent to re sell them at higher prices, is a real problem in this game that SE likely will be addressing soon.

Yeah... not SE's fault that you can't be bothered to read. Doesn't matter WHY there aren't enough houses in this case, your just complaining that you didn't bother to read the whole e-mail and are pushing the blame on someone else. Take responsibility for your own laziness, suck it up, and finally realize that you aren't a special little snowflake. You didn't get ripped off, you are just illiterate.
