    The one job he used as an example of "other possible choice" was Time Mage. So clearly, Time Mage isn't out of the Window (in the long run)

    So if the only caster request is "time mage", it is not too far fetched to believe they see it and it's on the to do list.
    Especially that Time Mage has a strong theme they can expand on. I play an AST and beside Time Dilatation, it doesn't feel all that "Timyy". Sure Gravity is used, big deal.
    edit: I like both concepts this TM one and the latest Geomancer as well - most of all cause they both would bring more synergy and grp dynamic instead of just lame raw dmg we are used to since SB... : /

    I think its a neat idea. However, I would think that any type of haste may be hard to put into the game since everyone's connection speed differs, what would happen if someone was lagging really bad? I think instead of making skills or auto attacks faster maybe they can make the damage multiply by a % or by 2, that way technically, you would auto attack once, or do an action attack and it would do twice the damage as normal. That way they wouldn't have to worry about making the character movements look odd. Something kind of like Ninjas duality, but for all actions...However...this would be very powerful. I think it would have to have a LONNNNNNG cool down, get haste before like in your post, and then get hastega later and shares the cool down timer with haste. Once you unlock haste you can use it on any party member for a short amount of time, 10 sec? long enough for that player to get a burst in. Once you unlocked hastega it could change haste can ONLY be casted to yourself and it increases your own damage and grants you the same effect, hastega would be for the whole party, but they both share the same cool down timer.

    @Sylvain: Yeah, I think those 3 are the big holes left in the job systems currently, being time mage, blue mage/beastmaster, and dancer. Something like that for caster, tank, and healer would fill the combat system nicely.

    @OMega: I think the key is that Haste only improves speed by a small percent, relatively speeking. Under the maximum conditions, my Time Mage idea allows a boost of up to 25% and usually it'd be less than that while Spacetime Warp cools down, at 10%. That number, I think, helps to limit the effects of lag and slow connections.

    I reread through the whole thing and as it stands, it seems a little op. Haste can really break a game, just look at XI where for the longest time haste in equipment was the one stat to rule them all and RDM was a must have due to being able to cast the spell version. Combined with slow on non boss mobs and that's still a hefty multiplier to damage output.

    I was extremely careful to limit the usefulness and power of Haste when making this idea, as I fully understood how useful it could be. Hasteja gives a 10% boost, which I do not feel would make it absolutely must-have. The big boost comes from Spacetime Warp which makes Hasteja a party-wide 25% boost, but there is a big limitation -- it's effects are limited to an 8y radius. That's a risky proposition, especially when you'd want the enemies within the Warp also to debuff them. That draws the entire party into range of all of the attacks, and anytime a party member runs out of the Warp, they lose the effects until they get back in. It's also limited to 45s out of every 180s, so the majority of the time, the 10% boost is the most to expect.

    In concerns of balancing, though, I have significantly lengthened the cooldown periods for them. Feel free to comment on it.

    Consider AST an astrologer who dabbles in Time Magic. (They have a couple of time-related moves.) A Time Mage doesn't care anything about astrology, but is a dedicated master of Time Magic. So it's pretty different overall. The focus of the jobs are wildly different.
