I am really excited to play bard but I do feel bad that people playing archer for the damage don't get job that reflects the DD side. I know they said that we are stuck with 1 class = 1 job but I wish they would branch out more so archer could unlock both bard and ranger or something.

Well, at least I know they'll be in demand, but 1 per party of 8 is all you'll really need I'm guessing.. hopefully others won't have to sit!

So what class would you propose becomes bard then?
Not that this discussion You out here posting complaints months after all the information was released. This complaint has been issued before, so your a little late to the party. I can't think of the last MMO I played that bard wasn't a bow user, so I don't see how you are so surprised. Most players made false assumtions about what job alot of classes would be. I think many, such as yourself, got your hopes up about what the job for your prefered class would be?

I do have one question, why would bard not be shooting anything? I am not sure how they plan on instituting the bard as a whole, but I have never really seen a game where I was unable to attack as a bard.

Also, You do not have to become the job, your more then welcome to stay the class for ranged DD. For now though, I would say to give it a chance and see what happens. You may not like it, but then again, you may absolutely love it. No point in prejudging it now.

So I guess you've never played Final Fantasy XI.

I did. Not long. I was in Japan pon its release and played it untill about 3 months after the NA release. I did not recall if bards were incapable of using a bow at all in the game. To be honest though, FFXI is the exception and not the rule.

Well, this is a FF MMO, so when talking about the expectations of what BRD should be doing, FFXI is much more relevant than, say, Dark Age of Camelot.

I'm not saying that I personally have a problem with Bardcher (I don't really care either way), but the people who object to that combination have a valid point, I think.
