speaking on long time experiencebeen playing since 2.1 my g/f been playing 1.0.
your join date says may 2017, how long have you been playing?
it happens a lot more then ppl think.
I haven't been around since 1.0 or anything but I first originally had a character a little while before HW came out. I only joined the forums a while back looking for an FC.
What I mean to ask (I should have been more direct) is how you could know Balmung has been responsible for multiple server crashes? I'm asking it as a legitimate question, not trying to get a rise out of you.
Without something from SE saying "Yup guys, blame Balmung" it seems hard to nail down and when I google it I can't find anything along those lines. It would be a valid point if there was evidence to back it up.
Edit: Also I was part of the mass exodus from Balmung following the SB launch along with my boyfriend and members of an FC I subsiquently joined. I remember the queues, they were awful and it's why I would never go back.
the way mmo servers work, datacenters are located in server batches, too much data in one place can crash a system. Aether has had to restart numerious times because gil and balmung process too much data. a server can support 5000 concurrent log ins. both gil and balmung top that 10 fold.
Plus add to the fact the devs completely locked the servers from creation and transfer, it means it was a serious to the servers health.
if you go to the lodestone, and look into how often aether crafted from ARR, you see why.
to put it on perspective, it is like playing skyrim going to a small room and item duping cheese 5000x should see how fast the game starts to lag up.
I am the first to admit that I don't know much about the technical workings of this game/MMO's in general so I certainly wouldn't try to poke any holes in your theory but without some kind of confirmation isn't a theory all it is?the way mmo servers work, datacenters are located in server batches, too much data in one place can crash a system. I just think with the big focus on getting people to transfer to smaller servers if entire data centers were routinely going down because of Balmung SE would publicize the issue as further reason to relocate.
I don't know, I'm just hesitant to leverage such an accusation without any kind of proof. What you're saying makes sense to me but again as someone who knows very little about that I don't think my technical opinion is worth much.
