And as a result our server will never have the growth that comes with new blood, which older servers have.I'm not asking you to leave. I honestly really don't care much where you or your FC/LS/friends play. You are more than welcome to stay on Balmung, as far as I am concerned. What does get really, really old is when people whine about getting it unlocked. Unlocking the server has nothing to do with enjoying/not wanting to leave the community you have, unlocking the server has everything to do with ballooning an already overcrowded server up to a population size that crashes the entire data center (again.)
Perhaps you should realize that I’m allowed to change my mind, and quit pulling up things from my past? I’m tired of people doing that.Perhaps you should try being consistent in your stance?

People redicule Balmung, and demand that people just leave, despite not understanding that it’s a community a lot of people love.Sounds like someone's getting claustrophobic from having a wall around them within a 50 miles radius.
It's great you have your community, and cases like yours are why it's so hard for so many of us to just up and leave, and why hopefully they won't fracture our community forcefully any time soon. But like people said - given that so far they're not doing that, what's exactly the point of this...?
And what exactly does new blood have to do with staying with your old friends? Nothing, that's what. Stay on Balmung, for all the reasons you listed and be happy. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

I have a feeling he has never been told no by his parents and we are having to deal with the results.
This didn't need another thread dude. Balmung is still as lively as ever despite "stagnating" or the community supposedly dying, how about instead of posting on here complaining about something from a different angle with a different colored soapbox you go an enjoy the mobs of people we still have to interact with?
To be fair, people on both Balmung and Gilgamesh value the community aspects both servers have cultivated. That is slowly eroding since their markets have crashed, FCs cannot recruit and etc. A recent Mogtalk podcast goes into lengths about the negative impact to Gilgamesh's community this has had. Now with that said, much like the podcast emphasises, both servers needed to be locked initially. One could certainly argue Balmung still does, at least for a bit longer. The issue they touch upon is once these communities are damaged, people will either quit or move elsewhere, which will inevitably prompt more people to follow. There's a reason Leviathan and Cactuar's populations have exploded. All this causes is stagnation-- to where Gilgamesh and Balmung don't ever recovery and we're talking about Cactuar, Mateus and Leviathan as the three "popular" servers until the cycle repeats.
So what should SE do? Better incentivize other servers. A significant reason Balmung and Gilgamesh grew the way they did was due to there being no incentive whatsoever to play on a small server beyond personal preference.
The issue that is already slowly happening upon Balmung because of the lack of new blood is the MB economy is slowly starting to stagnate. This is because there is now little to no one buying lower level gear, minions that are able to be sold not being bought because everyone will eventually have them all, and it can eventually get to the point where there may not be any recovery. Now it isn't there yet, because a large number of rpers have alts they are now leveling, but it becomes a point of worry as SE has yet to show any real ability to handle the situation in a timely manner. It took them how long to stop taking money and lock these servers? And as far as I can tell none of the servers in Japan or in NA that were labeled as congested have changed in the five months and change that it has been now since they were all locked. Just like there is a breaking point with keeping the flood gates open there is a breaking point with keeping them closed. I just hope SE can see when enough is enough before some of these servers, Balmung included, start to see permanent negative effects of the lock. Repairing a broken economy is not an easy thing.
From an old Balmung player, you made your choice. I joined the server that became Balmung 7 years ago. I left when it became available, as did at least 20 others from my group. Staying behind is your decision.
