You do get Demimateria from desynthesis, yes. It is one of the few things desynth is useful for, which is why most people think that desynth is not worth the bother.
If you do not want to level desynth skills yourself, you can usually find Demimateria on the Marketboard - although be aware that the more useful variants tend to get a bit pricey.

In case you need Mastercraft demimateria later, Artisan's Specs are now available from Grand Company (need to be 1st lieutenant) for 5000 seals a pair to desyn.

Yikes! That's pricey. For 200 seals per venture you can use a miner retainer to get 9 gold ore I believe (level 50). That gets you 3 rose gold nuggets (combined with 3 copper ore which is super cheap at vender), and takes 2 nuggets to make one rose gold cog to turn in for a pair of glasses at Talan in RT. So average over multiple ventures is 267 seals = one pair of Artisan's Specs

Am I mathing right? (not online rn). 5000 seals just seems so excessive comparatively if this is correct.

Yeah, the turn-in method at Talan is still the cheapest. Spending 5K seals is definitely "burning" the seals... It is a viable option when you have a zillion seals to spare though, but no time to make the cogs. I've been leveling multiple DoM/DoW, so I just got way too many seals... Anyway, like magnanimousCynic said, specs aren't even the best option for Mastercraft. The tools are. But they're even more expensive... if I remember correctly, each tool is like 7500 seals.

If you have weaver or blacksmith de synthesis and need G3 shroud soil. You can unearth III and kings yield I, grab your soil and 10 HQ ores (don’t remember name offhand and assuming you are 70 miner). Go to talan get either the foragers hat (10HQ ore) or foragers pickaxe (20HQ ore) and desynth those.

Demi III come from desynth as others have said. Most of it coming from Mor Dhona trade in but the direct for Demi III trade in, is not a true option. The items you see being asked for in trade for Demi III are NQ "fails" for the HQ requirement for the original Master 1 and 2 books. They require 2xDemi III to make. The cash in for NQ to recover one of the Demi III was put in to soften the blow.

Most use Jeweler because they decided that Artisan's Spectacles were untradeable but not unique where all the other Artisan stuff remains unique so you can only have one at a time. Long story short, you need to desynth for them.

The Spectacles are generally better for Fieldcraft Demimateria III.

The Tools are generally better for Mastercraft Demimateria.

Hell, I think the Tools are better for FC3 too.

You know, I've been finding the old level 60 sets (both the carbon and individual class sets) are great for FD3. Since the retainers are flooding the market, these are rather cheap. You can buy some for like 4k ~ 30k. It's not as cheap as the Talan route, but it's faster and great for leveling your desynth. I dunno if someone has already mentioned this already. *^^* Sorry if I'm repeating someone's earlier advice.

i just desynthed 100 Bridesmaid's sandals which resulted in 29 master III's, i think the rate is around 25% but i just sell the excess i don't need atm for a nice profit

there are several good items for Artisan's spectacles imo like Spirits of Salt, Silver Brocade, Rosegold Cog and Darksteel Hook. With the buff to gathering that is Bountiful Harvest II you'll get at least 24 items from a timed node and most of them have a higher natural yield anyway. Like we can craft 15 spirits of salt an hour on the timed node because we can gather 30/42 Volcanic rock salt an hour and this is the roughly the same for all items
