    Fieldcraft Demimateria III ?!?

Where does this come from? I've teamed up with some FC-mates so we can craft our i320 crafting and gathering sets, and this item eludes me. Someone suggested maybe it was from desynth, but most of the stuff I've read here indicates leveling desynth isn't useful and it doesn't seem like that would be the conclusion if all the new gear required something only obtainable through desynth. Any pointers/tips/advice welcome. Thanks!

Leatherworker Desynth - Best Man's Gaiters - 6k in Uldah is another option if you aren't doing trade in items for Talan.

Thanks for that. However, looking at the trade-ins for Talan for Demimateria (https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/T...s%20Miscellany), I don't see recipes for the items he wants. Are those from the Master I/II books or maybe the "Master Craftsmen: Demimateria" books (https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/T...ting%20Tomes)? If it's the master demimateria books, that requires leveling desynth enough to get the rank I demimateria to trade for the books to learn to make the items to trade for the rank III demimateria?

All the Demimateria types primarily come from desynth and it is the main reason desynth is of use. I myself have never seen nor heard of another methord of gaining but can not say 100% that is the case.
Talan in Mor Dhona is not viable for Fieldcraft Demimateria III by the way. Yes you can trade with him for them but the items he trades for them all require 2 Fieldcraft Demimateria IIIs to make and he only gives 1 back (this was only there to reclaim some of the losses for the items being nq instead of hq back when items were traded for the tools)

Edit: Just to make a note, if your FC plans on keeping up to date with crafting and gatherering equipment as it comes out by making it yourself it is totally worth someone leveling their desynth to get FC3s (leatherworker has worked wonders for me in this) as they have been needed in just about every end game crafting since intruduction. at 50 was used to make the item traded for the tools, at 60 was used to make many pieces of the gear and 70 is the same again and so we can expect it to keep happening.

Talan is viable for turn ins, it's the Artisan Tools menu option you want. I traded in HQ silver brocades for Artisan's Needles and got a tidy heap of mastercraft demimateria, which is needed for the new main hands, and some fieldcraft III as well. Make sure to choose an artisan tool that you can desynth and craft the corresponding turn in, which is a Master book I recipe item.

If you run or have a fairly active FC, and have access to spending company credits you can usually get the Carbuncle Lantern or Table, and desynth that, it gives FC3s fairly frequently, costs no gil. I get around 1-2 stacks of FC3s per 300k or so

Interesting. The lantern and table are desynth’d as CRP? Is it possible to have desynth high enough on 2 crafts to do those as well as the NPC-bought boots with LTW?

You can level desynth for up to three craft jobs.

You can probably do more than three now, with as much as cap has been raised. Just check the desynth level of the items in question, which is most likely not anywhere very high at this point.

Uhhmm, if they still have to desynth the tool, it's not really viable for OP since they were trying to avoid desynth...
But yeah. Only other option is paying out the nose on the MB, since all the desynth crafters know their skill/luck/time is in demand.
