It would be nice if we could take a poll on whether we want Dragoons to include wyverns or not.Dragoons didn't have wyvern "pets" until 11(Most had no relation to wyverns at all, with the exception of the Highwind-Tycoon Family in 5, and Ricard in 2), and it took 11's team quite a while to balance it correctly! Remember when Call Wyvern was the 2 hour ability? and a beastmaster's jug pet could beat one?
Yea I love Dragoon, and the Wyvern added a nice story line to Dragoon AF, but what made a Dragoon a Dragoon was their combat style and armor. If the Dragoon in XIV is too obscure from their Lancer counterparts then maybe adding of the wyvern should be discussed.
Don't get me wrong I loved the Combination of Dragoon and Wyvern in XI, but at the same time I couldn't help but feel they only added it to make the class stand out from the other DD classes.

There are many, many players who are steadfastly against the Wyvern sidekick/pet/extension. The FFXI dragoon was a complete deviation from the FF tradition, it had horrible balance issues, and turned many people off from even trying the job (remember LOLDRG?).
I, and most other players want the DRG job to function like traditional FF dragoons, specifically Kain and Freya. The current style of TP and Combo mastery for LNC, combined with the Jump attacks in the DRG Job are the right direction.
A persistent Wyvern 'sidekick/pet/etc' for a DRG is a total non-starter for me no matter how it is implemented.
*disclaimer* In the 1.20 dats, there was introduced a model of what appears to be a large wyvern. The spoiled DRG weaponskill list includes an attack called "Wyvern Dive" which may involve the summoning of a Wyvern to make a fire attack. I would not be opposed to a Wyvern that appears as part of a 2-hour style TP move (and then leaves).

Purist sounds about right.
Anyways there have been multiple polls on this and every time the majority has been overwhelmingly against the idea.
No need to beat a dead horse.

There were actually quite a few attempted polls on here not that long ago. I say attempts because the like button is a sad way to poll. People are on both sides of the fence about the issue. Personally I could live without any sort of complimentary flying rodent.
I guess it's personal preference. Personally, I think small dragons look absolutely fantastic. Nothing like a flying rodent.. I believe you're stretching it a little too far with that one. But I guess they've already made up their mind, we'll just have to see.
