Possible solutions?

One for sure is to expand the garden system or make it separate from housing, a lot of players buy houses just for this reason.

One other is to open wards with plots for certain type of purchase method. I was thinking they should change the action hammer icon to a different color or outline it. For personal use have it green, available for FC's only blue, and recolating yellow. Maybe fever of relocating ones since I don't know is that too popular, or if the recolated plots haven't been sold in some amount of time it will be available for everyone. Same for FC plots.

This might be a bit messy but surely worth a try I think. It would solve some issues with people just buying plots for the sake of lols or just reselling them.

They could just open wards for different types of uses but it would be boring to have one ward for FC's or personal use only so this could mix it up a little.

Anything else there could be added, what do you think?

Originally I wrote a wall of text but i'll keep it simple.
I beleive the housing system needs a complete redo. As long as house size gives practical benifits other than cosmetics, there will always be a housing problem.
There will be people who are against the idea of a redo for whatever reason, be it the location they're in, their neighbours, house size. etc. Unless they offer a better working solution, they aren't worth responding to.

removing size based restrictions would help. scrap garden limits so all 3 sizes of house can have 3 gardens and the same number of retainers outside or merchants indoors and crafting facilities.. that would be a pretty large step in the right direction.

secondly tie in an outdoor allotment or even some kind of balcony garden to appartements. that would also give apartment owners a chance to access gardening facilities.

both of these things would help alleviate some of the demand for the larger plot sizes..

also upgrades should be an option. allow players to build at least a medium on a small plot or a large on a medium plot would take a bit of redesign to overall plot sizes but it could help a lot of people without actually changing the wards overall design too much thus keeping the neighbourhood feeling and layout of plots

a complete redo is not a solution. a lot of people spent a hell of a lot of time, gils and effort in building there homes and neighbourhoods. expecting them to take that all away just so someone else can get a house is incredibly selfish thinkning.

People in the "my exclusivity" camp when it comes to housing are being selfish (and I have a personal, a fc, and an apartment all in my name)... house size and space alone should be enough

I'll repost what i said in another thread, regarding the plot and house sizes.

Have they ever toyed with the idea of having neutral plots instead of Small, Medium and large?
That way the size of the house is decided when you are constructing.
So say you buy a plot for a fixed price the devs decide. Then you build a small one, or if you have the gill a large.
But in case you were only able to build a small, it's no big deal, because you could make more gil and then pay the price to upgrade the house to a medium or large. Kinda like animal crossing.
That would solve the problem of FC's having to settle with small houses since people snatch the large ones in minutes after patch. Also would give people something to work for if they have a small, increasing the gil sink.

Wouldn't solve the bigger problem of housing and avaliability, but hey.

Just make all apartments have the same interior as the houses . you can buy a s/m/l or buy a small and down the road upgrade to med or large. small has 2 floors like normal med the normal 3 floors and large the 3 massive floors add a balcony that looks out into genric scenery depending on where u pick to live ,mist ocean lav beds trees n so on... give balconys items limits like yards...make all apartments zone in from maijor citys to not just zones and offer transfer for apartments so they can change there balcony scenery..

As for gardens n workshops... take the sobs out of houses period / or add to all along with...
Put gardening and workshops in your GC squad door...the higher rank you are the more garden plots you have access to and the more airships..as well as housing glam schimatics.. no need to have these locked to houses or FC the airships bring back crafting material people not in fc can use..if airships only brought back items say such as rare buff making materil i can see it but time to unlock these two from houses
