I think one potential easy fix for an ability like King's Yield would be to make it similar to how Hasty Hand works. If a DoH has the hasty hand ability equiped, it will always show up for use, and that skill is basically "All-or-Nothing".

King's Yield could function in similar fashion. DoL person has the ability equiped, upon arriving and activating a gathering point the option to use the ability shows up. If the player chooses to use the ability, this will alter how progress strike/bite bars would work, either you get it, or you fail. If you succeed, boom multiple yield (to include End Ore), if you fail, you get nothing! Additionally the ability like Hasty Hand would reduce XP.

DoH already has this system in place, it can work for DoL.
