Did some testing yesterday on PGL and I can say that there is no magic number as far as AA stats go. The idea simply remains to be that increasing either of the AA stats grants higher damage, however crossing any threshold does not give a sudden rise or bonus of any sort.

The following is my parse breakdowns versus the static Lv 54 Gigantoad spawn near Turning Leaf.

    289 STR and 278 INT = 567 Total

    286 STR and 288 INT = 574 Total

Granted the sample sizes are not large, but I was in a hurry and squeezed this in prior to a Moogle run. Even with this size I think it's safe to say that there is no bonus for having a stat simply pass the 280 mark. The only thing to take from OP it seems like is that stats do give increases up to 340.

EDIT: These tests were done entirely under the effect of Fists of Fire.

I tend to agree with you. Mainly because there is a chance that damage is derived from Your STR minus the MOBs VIT as well as your ATT vs the MOBs DEF... in which case the number needed to see significant improvement would fluctuate based on the MOB.

Also a claim as specific as "Get stats to 280" would need to be backed up with more than baseline observations. No offense to anyone... just sayin...

I think what the OP means, but cannot conclude since he doesn't do any of his own testing, is that when he pushes this range in attributes he sees a major difference because it pushes up against or exceeds mob VIT. When I was gearing up for moogle, I got the same thresholds he got, but I never worried about getting both of them up.

What needs to be confirmed is the attack power part of this and to see how much this adds to your DMG consistency and how effective it is. A lot of LS members have SS of parses for our moogle runs with different gear builds. Some high attack, some high DEX, and some high PIE. What my current theory is right now before looking at all of this is not very different to how it worked before really. When you reach a particular area in your attribute modifier you start to soft cap and when is needed to be done at that point is push the attack through for consistency.

It is said on official postings that things like STR and DEX for archers is attack power for those classes and that is simply not true. They are supporting roles for your attack power. This is why many have trouble with the stats when testing for melee as opposed to a mage. You have to factor in base DMG, attribute, attack power, and dLVL. Simply raising a attribute and giving it a glance over isn't concrete information.

Yes! This exactly. We need to have this in our heads when testing.

If your parsing PUG then you need to use elemental fists. You will get a damage boost on those from INT. INT is also important to boost blindside damage. From my LS's testing we have seen 20-30 damage increase per hit(10-15 each fist). I'm just giving people a heads up. Do your own testing and determine if you find it necessary to get your stats to those numbers. You would want the most you can get anyways right?

Ah, thanks for reminding me. The testing I posted was done entirely under the effect of Fists of Fire. I'll update the post to include that information. I did some brief observational testing on the same target without any stance buff as well and noticed no difference. I parsed my more extensive testing with FoF on though.

I love the smell of numbers being crunched in the morning!

I have a few different parsers and I do parse regularly...
but I've been hesitant about doing any full testing and reticent about publishing any data interpretations just because I feel like the damage formula is subject to change (or at least minor tweaks) at every patch

Yeah I know what you mean. Just before 1.20 it was 260 then jumped to 280 after update. Probably because stat allotment. Which is why I think SE told us AA bonus stats since we won't be able to reallot for a while. I wonder if they had AA bonus since AA was released. People figured out Archer needed dex after their str wasn't working anymore and I tested out the stats right before 1.20 when they released patch notes and they were in effect.

Has anyone tried out DEF yet? -_o

Instead of balancing both stats, wont focusing on one stat to push it as high as possible be better?

This way I think you can hit the hard cap on that single stat.
