"Oh a random guy queueing did not meet my standards" NO KIDDING!
I don't think my standards are very high at all honestly. Its funny how in this thread any person who is in favor of parsers is painted as some kind of psycho elitist. That is so, so not me.

Despite not finding myself in need of kicking tons of people (I hardly venture past extremes these days, irl things prohibit me from keeping to a raid schedule) I still defend groups and players who may feel the need to kick someone for poor DPS. As someone who believes in kicking a weaker player (hopefully with some advice on how they can improve) in the best interest of the group as a whole I almost have to be in favor of parsing - how else can you know if someone specific is holding you back?

I'm sorry, keeping a bunch of other people from clearing content for the sake of being nice to one person is stupid and rude to the other party members. Do I hope it is done tactfully and with as much courtesy as is possible? Of course, but sometimes it needs to happen.

I think the real question is why do you think it's okay to waste a bunch of player's time just to try to carry one underperformer?

Once you start kicking people you are wasting just as much time. Kicking someone because of a number that he/she can't even see IS elitist, yes.

The long and short of it is; If you are queuing in the duty finder for "hard" content you should expect to wipe a few times. I mean seriously, I've been playing MMO since Everquest. I'm surprised how people in this game are surprised that random people kind of suck. Is this your first MMO? This isn't a new concept.

I mean really, look at other games MOBA, FPS, RTS. It's the same thing. Randos kind of suck. Just deal with it, its never going to change. Or do what people figured out a long time ago and create a static or group or guild or linkshell or company or whatever else you want to call and only play with just those people.

I see a lot of people arguing here about whether it's OK to kick someone for not doing enough DPS. I'ma just say that those people who think it's not OK to judge players who deal low damage, have yet to clear V4S.

Hell, even V3S when it came out was a tough DPS check since not everyone was ilvl 320 yet. You had to do that fight perfectly and if ANYONE died, you probably weren't gonna meet the DPS check.

Now imagine doing the fight perfectly and still dying at 2-3% over and over again. Then you find out apparently one of the DPS clearly doesn't know WTF they're doing. Do you kick them? Up to you. Or you can just ask them why their damage is low, and help them do better by giving some tips. Point is, that's not something that can happen without parsing.

It's not about high standards when you're just trying to clear the damn fight.

people rather skip mechanics instead of learning them. Mechanics get repeated, yet ppl STILL fail them. And as typical they blame others instead of themselves for not learning.
    @ thread
also I just checked my fflogs, from what i looked into i've only been parsed in gordias nm as a sch which was not super geared, and was helping another player out with clear I mainly healed that fight. None of my smn stuff or my blm stuff since ff14 start was ever parsed apparently lol.

no one ever told me i'm low damage either in the content i ran. Most deaths i've seen come from healers not healing then low dps truth be told.

from fflogs alone it does not really paint an accurate picture on a player.

The most recent, simple example of this I can think of is Susano EX. As the fight goes on longer he throws worse and worse combos at you. I was doing it with a combo of FC members and pugs at the time and invariably people would have trouble with the whirlpool>churning>whirlpool sequence that happens toward the end.

It got so bad we were inviting our pf members to our discord for callouts so that we could not wipe to that specific mechanic, especially because even if my cohealer and I lived through it if we lost 3/4 DPS to it and had no mp for rezzes we just couldn't get everyone back up in time.

Know what the answer was? More DPS so we never saw that set of mechanics. One FC member swapped from mnk to BLM for mana shift duty, my cohealer took the brunt of the healing on AST and I focused on DPS as WHM.

So no, if one of our DPS's did technically enough to beat enrage that doesn't secure a clear necessarily and in a farm situation specifically you are going to want to skip nasty mechanics when you can to minimize three chance of a wipe.

Basically "the best defense is a good offense".
If your group handled the mechanics correctly, yes you would have cleared, so long as each DPS member was doing the amount of DPS required to clear the fight. In your situation, you needed higher than necessary DPS to brute force your way through the fight. I have no issue with this if it is advertised as such, such as all those PF parties of the past that advertised them as "Skipping Soar". If that is what the group is setting out to do more power to them, and players go in knowing they need to push higher than normal numbers.

imo the pro parser people i've met are more toxic, then the one not pro parser. instead of working as a team, they act like a vindictive brat.

the pro parser people i met act snobbish, and try to speak for other instead of themselves, they make hyperbole "what ifs" to spin a take of "see that person is bad i got proof" all of their complaints come from duty finder as well.

Most deaths I see is from healers not healing, leaving hp pools sit @ 40%. if a dps dies that is less dps, yet the dps is blames and healed ciz of "making mistakes" thinking "teaching" a person requires them to die with no help.

that is straight up blanket training, being rude and abrasive is not good teamwork. Heal through the mistakes instead of flipping the bird.

dps players should be only ones super focused on dps, as their role is tuned to it, healers should put healing first dps second. but no the fear of "over healing" prevents that.

dcuo has a built in parser a cross all platforms... from my time using it you didn't need to be a good player to get high numbers, just need to be the first to attack and spam your aoe/dot skill. no one played their role just used the role to queue up. I haven't played it in years, so things may have changes but in my experience

built in parser did nothing but make ppl work less like a team, even more so then they did at launch.

you can't force ppl to learn either, but they have a right to do content, everyone does. Being rude to people for not playing like you goes against the spirit of mmorpg.
If df groups are not fun for you, set up a pf. No one is forcing anyone to play with people who don't share your mindset.

this goes for everyone. Picking fights is dumb, and fflogs doesn't paint the whole picture. Just gives numbers with out much context.

On my parse as a sch it shows me doing lil to no damage on oppressor but medium damage on faust. (iirc) while my healing was high. the fight i was parsed on, i was mostly healing as the healer i was with was mostly dpsing. but with out the visual context, it appears i suck as playing sch.

    Do you even fflogs bruh
Sure the leaderboard itself could be described as that but the logs themselves detail *everything*. What all was everyone hit by? How much healing was going out at what points? Who died to what, how, and where they were standing. It logs buff uptimes, debuffs aquired, dot uptimes, and allows for detailed comparisons between player performances.

i play on ps4, so no. I just looked to see if I was ever parsed.

stats, numbers, skills used saying how ppl dies is meaningless with out visual context or party chat. People can be vindictive and LET people die over the stupidest reasons.

context matters in all stats, someone on zeplas fflogs satire explanation video used sports stats to back up their claims, yet scouts don't just look at a spread sheet and hire ppl, they go to several games to see the context of those numbers. How the player interacts with his team, how is he getting those numbers.

visual context is not present on fflogs, just numbers, skills, and stats. It doesn't paint a picture how well that person plays in a group. Just numbers of 1 fight.

people have good and bad days. if you look at my faust parse you think i suck as a sch, simply because my damage is low. Yet if you saw me in the fight you may think otherwise.

i just pulled up the site a bit ago, not much info to back up the numbers imo. feel free to look me up, my info isn't hidden.

found a void ark parse. number is a dark blue.

like i said im on ps4, not once in any content someone told me I'm bad. Not once was i ever to blame for a wipe. And tbh as far as I can tell i'm barely parsed.

Idm if someone states i need to improve, just lemi know what I need to work on, and I'll work on it. as of right now, no one has yet to complain, and im barely parsed so im getting the feeling not everyone parses, or is just not posting my numbers. lol

I just know what it's like to be stuck in a fight because a certain player keeps holding a group back due to damage. I know, because I was once that player. And I was glad when someone pointed out I could be doing a lot better than I was doing.

It's no different than being that guy who keeps messing up in the same mechanic, over and over again, when the rest of the group is obviously ready to clear.
