Nothing new this happened alot of times over the years. I can't wait until they ask Yoshi P about this lol. The last time he was asked about a personal damage meter he almost left the room haha.

Homestly, this idea that Yoshi-P is so against parsers that they will never happen is so outdated. How about the examples that have already been presented in the thread about housing reclamation or the clear seperation of personal and fc housing? The only answer is the obvious one - sometimes he changes his mind. Stop clinging to this, it's pathetic.

he hasn't changed his mind in 5 years, over parser he was asked for them since 1.o

pc housing and fc housing were gonna be different, till players wanted person fc houses. Most likely the pc housing was going to be the apartments we ended up getting in SB.

the house reclaim wasn't going to be a thing, then ff14 got too popular.

After reading through this thread,(I'm bored) I am quite amused.
The way it has played out, with all the sniping and passive aggressive posts, this thread is like a massive beacon that solidifies the studios stance on adding such a feature... Funny stuff.

Ironically, those posts have been largely coming from people who neither raid nor use parses. Which... actually defeats the entire argument opposing them, if you think about it.

Sorry, but... Hyomin did not personally attack you she simply explained her disagreement with what you have posted and explained the holes in the arguments you have chosen to use.

I mean...who calls someone else confrontational for having a debate on a forum anyway? She can reply if she wants to it doesn't mean she is "confrontational". If you don't want your arguments countered or opinions held up against someone elses then you really shouldn't post in a public forum in the first place.

Look, any type of raiding at some point is work, because it boils down to showing up at a predetermined time, being ready for your job by a lot of practice or research, and then doing a single fifteen minute instance over and over dozens of times to clear it, then dozens more to farm it. It is not something you do for fun because the fun is generally leeched out of it after the tenth wipe. You succeed by going past that and treating it professionally, in the same way you treat a job or a sport professionally. If you base it solely on it being fun, that's when people suddenly up and leave one day. To spend time practicing your rotation is work, too; it's not fun to be in front of a training dummy repeating the same old motions till they are ingrained.

No matter if you raid 3 hours a week or 30, at some point if you are even the slightest bit serious about clearing, it becomes work to you in terms of your mindset. It's actually scary at times, because it winds up being so much like work that you even have "company" events to blow off steam, like drunk runs or gag runs. And people talk about raiding like it was money...we have welfare gear and there are people who don't deserve things, as if you "deserved" to have a token in Monopoly or to win at tag.

The fact that people here want parsers is a subset of the idea of game as work. It is necessary for raid play, I won't argue that. Because raid play ultimately is this game as work. People worry though when parsers are legitimized because the people who raid seem to want sometimes the entire game to be similar work. But a lot of people dislike the whole raid culture in general, because it's become a job-substitute for people. You already have hard times convincing new people to work for you in your statics, can you imagine if it spread to all parts of the game?

No it's not. Why do you think raiding is work when you clearly want to do content or things that needs a group to clear with? Ofc it's going to be set schelude. You are literally saying we shouldn't just to make it less ''work''. Whats the difference between my friend working from 7 to 3 and me 8 to 4 and we plan playing a game together around 6 or 7? Or is that work too? And lets go back to the topic of parser.

Will you be angry at your friend when he can't make it, and stop playing video games with him entirely, telling him to go play by himself if he doesn't show up a few days? because that's what people do with statics if someone misses it. If your friend says one night, "Sorry I want to play solo, or play this new game with another friend," are you going to kick him from your friends list? if your friend sucks at video games, do you ditch him and get a new friend that's better at them?

This is what you do in raiding.

Look, raiding isn't bad in the same way jobs aren't bad, and I'm not sayin noone finds fun in them. People love their jobs too, and find meaning in them. It's just...well a job, and people don't want that mindset to spread in the stuff that you can still do for fun alone.

No, however I would be pretty annoyed if we previously made plans to go out to dinner or something and you abruptly call me up and say, "Sorry. I can't come because I just got a new game I wanna play." I set aside my schedule for you and you flacked. How is scheduling raid time any different? We all have lives, thus it only makes sense to pick a time where we can all be readily available. So once again, stop telling actual raiders what raiding is to them.
