Houses and alts

So I made my first alt character last night because I wanted to play the MSQ again on a new character to teach myself how to play on ps4 ( I just got my ps4 license on sale yay). I also wanted to try a different race for a while. I had no idea how much SE hated alts. I can't mail myself things, nor can I make myself a house tenant in my own house.

I'm starting to understand why people have multiple houses on one server. I was seriously thinking last night that I need a second house now, but then I would become something I hate!

Is there any word on SE changing this policy? I feel like if they were to open up having alts as house tenants that would help the housing shortage a fair bit.

It takes a lot of work to level an alt to get a house, or at least it DID once upon a time. You can boost an alt but you still need to do the GC rankups.

I wouldn't want my alts in my main's house either idk. Would be nice to mail stuff, but if they change it to 1 house per account I'll just buy a third account.

We know that SE is doing something to housing sometime in the nearish future, but they've said flat-out that they won't tell us what. (Personally, I have doubts that they even know what they are going to do with this mess right now.)

One of the several things I am hoping for is alts on the same server being automatically made tenants as soon as they meet the requirements for housing. And that they don't count toward the tenant limit per house, either. But we have no way to know for sure what it is SE is up to.

It would be nice if alts could share a house on the same account without adding them as tenents... we only get 3 tenets... it would suck to have alts take up those slots

They use the default rmt excuse...

I don't remember the exact thing they said but they kept blaming rmt at ARR launch as to why it was important to keep alts completely separated. Even though rmt just form fc and get around that separation easily.

But the housing thing...idk how they can blame that on rmt and its annoying as all get out to not be able to share my house with my alt. But they also obviously rushed housing to satisfy a very vocal minority who wanted housing "RIGHT NOW!!! /RAGE" which was a huge mistake and is causing the fiasco we have now imo.

I'm with Okamimaru on this. I'd love access on my alts without having to use up a precious tenant slot. Unless they allow us more tenants of course! I don't really get why we're limited to 3 anyway. It's not even as if tenants reset the timer so who cares how many you have? Or allow us to make our house "Friends Only" for entry permissions. Still....would be nice if all the people who frequently visit me could be chucked onto the tenant list so they could teleport to my house quicker. Especially because I'm in a subdivision which is a real pain to get to...

But yeah, SE doesn't really like alts. They allowed us to level everything on one character for a reason, I suppose. Plus if you have alts and it's too easy to use them and interact with your main through them, I'm sure they'd sell less retainers and SE of course wouldn't want that.

Alternatively though, if you need a house on your alt.... I'd suggest just getting an apartment for the basic needs. Or asking a friend if they have any free tenant slots and are willing to share with your alt.

Actually very easy to level an alt nowdays, it really comes down to the very long MSQ. Leveling is very easy. Especially if you roll on a prefered server (100% exp increase up to 60)

Yeah you need to be lvl 61 and have finished getting to Kugane to get even an apartment in Shirogane. That gate of MSQ between expacs is a real pain, unless you have money to drop.

But if you like the old areas you can just get to 50, do the GC stuff and get your gil ready.

i've only really found one rather expensive method (in real money terms) of getting my alt on my firends list and there for make her a tenant of my main's house and a allowing me to send mog mail between my charciters. I have 2 subs on my account with my main assigned to one and my alt to the other sub

I just invited my alt to my own FC but i realise not everyone have this luxuary
