especially since we aren't even playing in the finalized map/zones, battle system is not complete, LS management is not complete(being overhauled). a lot of game mechanics are still being added.
yup, its a beta
What I really want to know is these questions: ( not directed to the post I quoted)I may not totally agree with the "tone" of Rubicon's email but it's true. Ok so everyone here on these forums paid for either a CE or Standard edition copy of FFXIV. We also have been here as Alpha, CB and OB testers, retail launch players and now....what? What do you call yourself?
The point most of you seem to be ether ignoring or not willing to come to grips with are as follows. Please tell me this, when Call of Duty (any of them) launched, did the developers of that game ask for your input after launch? Did they set up forums to get your "feedback" in order to improve the game? No. Plain and simple no they did not. They gave you new maps after X months. ANY Mario game? Nope. Ummmm Battlefield? No? Ok just checking. Shoot how about Aion? Noo...? nooo not them either and that failure of a game?! Ok just checking. So all those games launched, maybe had a few hiccups with MMOFPS servers and such but I'm sure we all can agree, none of those companies came to you and ASKED and or BEGGED for your support and help/feedback. Right? Right. Ok next. Just from those examples even with the 1 MMORPG *chuckles inside* all of those games launched, were played, sucked or didn't suck and failed or moved on into gaming history or at least on the "Hell yes I will play this again" shelf. None of them launched then are looking to "relaunch" in order to save the game using the FEEDBACK of the people playing the game to make it MARKETABLE for consumers who are willing to try it out for the first time, those who may come back and for those awaiting it on a console; gods know for what reason but they are. When you test bed ANY product, you ask for what is it called.... *scratches head* ... Oh yeah... FEEDBACK! Without it you have no idea what other issues need to be resolved before releasing it to the masses. We are by no means, the masses lmao! We are helping SE and Yoshi-P decide what works best, what should be added removed, tweaked, redone etc etc.... shoot.... other than getting paid BY them and doing the actual design work, this is OUR game! How we express ourselves to the Devs and Yoshi-P is what may constitute what someone new to a FF MMORPG could go, "Holy hell this shit is epic!" or for them to go,"BWAAHAHAHAHAHA STILL a failure; losers."
So while again semantics is what it is, this is a beta people for real whether you like it or not. Again, idc wtf you call it. I'm playing it, paying for it and HOPING the subs have removed the freaking whiny asshats that were asking for dumbass crap to be added and good things to be removed from the game. I hope to be smiling next year when 2.0 releases and it redeems SE and places Yoshi-P on the boards for saving this game.
1) The game is charging now: If Your are paying for it ( which obviously you all are since your rambling in this thread/forums, why are you crying about exactly? You paying for beta? Alpha? Test Build? Does it matter, if your paying for it right now as we speak, you obviously like the game and want it to succeed. It doesn't matter how you call this game, You like it.
2) Why exactly are you put the game down (some people), and still pay for the game?
3) Most important question here, If you don't like that game, why are you paying to ramble on about it on the forums? seems like a waist of money to me if thats the case meh.
In any-rate, Yes FFXIV still has problems, but I argee with the people that say its in it's Launch state, and by the time 2.0 comes around, that will be are Major Expansion/New Game whatever, I can't wait for 2.0, so Hopefully these Forums will have some piece in mind.
Let's just agree to coin the term rebeta and be done with it.
Rebeta: n. (ree-bay-tuh)
1. (Computer science) When a failed product is kept on the market while an improved version is completed for later release.
2. (Retail) One who administers rebates in the 'hood.
why do you think people calling it beta or alpha are insulting the game. people are just using computer terminology to label the game in its current form. There is a reason why SE is charging at a discounted rate you know. What I really want to know is these questions: ( not directed to the post I quoted)

Pretty much this.
Let this thread die....
Not saying "everyone" I'm saying to the point that say things like, " It's an Alpha Build it sucks" or "It's just beta, it's not worth the money" Statement like those, while being in a "paying game/forum" is a bit Contradictory.
Mmmm....this thread re-emerges... I think we can agree on two points:
1) Technically speaking, the game is not in Beta because the beta phase is over.
2) The whole argument is based on opinion.
se plans to release all these new features in a beta before 2.0 which makes this alpha(the development stage before beta)
