Stop calling it a beta

First, to those who are calling Ver 2.0 a gigantic expansion I must respectfully disagree with you. To me an expansion is just that, an add-on to existing content under existing conditions. Ver 2.0 wil be introducing a whole new story line, a new graphics engine, new UI and new world maps plus other items I forget off the top of my head. Much of what we are seeing through ver1.20 were fixes and improvements to the current game and these will not be carried over to the new game. That make the current game and Ver 2.0 2 different entities. Granted much of the changes to classes/jobs, crafting and additions in upcoming patches will be carried over to the new game they will continue to be played under the current format. Because there are no annonced plans to introduce the new features I listed above to the game prior to the release of Ver 2.0 I do not see how we can call this Beta testing.

The term Beta can only be applied by the devs. They are not referring to the current state as beta, therefore it is not a beta.

I bet internally they are make little jokes to each other like "well beta take 2?" of course they would not publicly say "oh hey...yeah we are taking this game back to beta status" because that would be really stupid.....

SE wont say it, they know better, but many of us here know better, this game is reverted to a beta form, one that we are paying for (honestly don't care about this part) 2.0 will be the games second official release, and then the game will be officially reborn/released.

Well technically they did call it beta. When Yoshi took over he mentioned that nothing changed from beta to release. The team never got to a lot of the glaring issues, and they did not get to implement a lot of features. We still do not have a lot of those features and fixes even now.

Yoshi states time and time again that '2.0 isn't a new game.' So if 2.0 isn't an all new game what are you playing right now? Beta + story.

Where's my Chocobo battle buddy? Something else slated for 2.0, why aren't we testing that atm? I mean, since version 1.x is a beta after all we should be testing the 2.0 client on the 2.0 servers right now.

For that should be after April looking at the 2.0 roadmap since 2.0 system isn't even ready up until April when it finally starts going through software check phase. Now with this stuff it wont even allow porting our current data into 2.0 till they start that in May so it will really be beta testing with new character and all that w

When that starts happening, that's when you can honestly consider it a Beta especially if we're going to "feel" the transition lol.

And while I sense some sarcasm here the thing is, we are "testing" things as they are released prior to being released in full to the public during 2.0 launch.

If you look at it from the stand point that we said, "Hey guys? You're missing this this and this and take out this and this and tweak this and that." and they are doing those things, which is what happens with testing. Also, we WILL test 2.0 for the most part. Whether they tell us straight up we are or not is on SE.
I just had a quick thought that, could you imagine after all this work if we AREN'T in someway helping "test" this stuff and they launch 2.0 and it has as many flaws as the original release.... oh man, what a f*ck up THAT would be.

And technically any of the above items you mentioned, we most likely will in one way or another give our feedback on prior to release.
