Stop calling it a beta

No matter what the community thinks or considers, this game is not a beta. It is now a retail game, that is 100% as complete as other games. It will be upgraded later yes, but all MMO's are continually upgraded. The game developers believe it deserves to be paid for, if you do too, then pay. If not, then don't.

Don't expect extra compensation because you are somehow "altruistic" enough to pay for an incomplete game, because you are not. At this point its just like any other. They are providing you a service, you pay for it. It's selfish to think you deserve an extra prize greater than what you would get with a different game.

Seriously do you storm into gamestop and claim that because you didn't like the game you bought you want a free strategy guide or something?

I agree with you regarding the don't expect special treatment because you are a paying customer.
It's pretty humourous that people pay with the expectation that this will be true.

But I also think its kind of still paid beta, you can't really compare it to other MMO's because no other MMO has gone through such radical changes after launch. (I'm sure someone will prove me wrong)

This game in it's current state is not exactly beta per se.. but.. the differences from beta and the game at launch were um.. non-existant iirc. Besides, who cares about symantics?

It's not semantics realistically -- Betas are games with none of their completed feature implemented because it's just testing x systems over y period before release -- XIV lacked certain systems and optimization due to being released too early and on an engine not suited for MMORPGs. It's being overhauled currently which isn't a beta.

So semantics would be saying overhaul is another word for beta, which is untrue.

I can agree with this sentiment.

Frankly put, I've always thought of Version 2.0 as an expansion to the normal game. I mean, we're getting an exclusive story-line, updates, and extra content (despite how much some of you might oppose this), so there is an actual game we're playing here.

I agree with the OP, we're past the beta phase already. The game is still receiving amendments for the better with feedback from us, but it's an actual game now rather than the beta, however jokingly some of you may feel it should be labeled.

The game is not yet in a finished state, it's still undergoing some pretty drastic changes. Maybe with 1.21 when jobs are implemented and all the recipe revisions are done (hopefully), then it can be considered in a launch state. Even then our LS system still doesn't have proper administration options. The game is mostly finished but not quite there just yet. I'm looking at 2.0 as more of a gigantic expansion.

What you discribe are so similar that they may aswell be the same, which is what semantics basically is.

i would sorta agree but version 2.0 is clearly the real game as most of the things now is gonna get cut. Like primal battles and other things.

Its a beta/full game then? Also if its a real full game we would not have gotten a discount of the fee.
