Stop calling it a beta

why do you think people calling it beta or alpha are insulting the game. people are just using computer terminology to label the game in its current form. There is a reason why SE is charging at a discounted rate you know.

Not saying "everyone" I'm saying to the point that say things like, " It's an Alpha Build it sucks" or "It's just beta, it's not worth the money" Statement like those, while being in a "paying game/forum" is a bit Contradictory.

FFXIV is beta still, sure the system is getting better but it still got long way to go.

If the game is still being fixed, modified, changed from the initial system I say it's beta which they are still doing. Just because this is an MMO or any online game that can drastically change from initial release... FFXIV even at current state has tons of stuff lacking from what initial games should have at launch so I say it's still beta.

But even if its beta or not I don't care... I just enjoy what I can enjoy in the current game even though it frustrates me at times....

First, to those who are calling Ver 2.0 a gigantic expansion I must respectfully disagree with you. To me an expansion is just that, an add-on to existing content under existing conditions. Ver 2.0 wil be introducing a whole new story line, a new graphics engine, new UI and new world maps plus other items I forget off the top of my head. Much of what we are seeing through ver1.20 were fixes and improvements to the current game and these will not be carried over to the new game. That make the current game and Ver 2.0 2 different entities. Granted much of the changes to classes/jobs, crafting and additions in upcoming patches will be carried over to the new game they will continue to be played under the current format. Because there are no annonced plans to introduce the new features I listed above to the game prior to the release of Ver 2.0 I do not see how we can call this Beta testing.

The term Beta can only be applied by the devs. They are not referring to the current state as beta, therefore it is not a beta.

If you think it's a crappy, unfinished game, call it a crappy, unfinished game. Don't twist and distort the definition of beta test to sound more intelligent. It backfires.

I bet internally they are make little jokes to each other like "well beta take 2?" of course they would not publicly say "oh hey...yeah we are taking this game back to beta status" because that would be really stupid.....

SE wont say it, they know better, but many of us here know better, this game is reverted to a beta form, one that we are paying for (honestly don't care about this part) 2.0 will be the games second official release, and then the game will be officially reborn/released.

Well technically they did call it beta. When Yoshi took over he mentioned that nothing changed from beta to release. The team never got to a lot of the glaring issues, and they did not get to implement a lot of features. We still do not have a lot of those features and fixes even now.

Yoshi states time and time again that '2.0 isn't a new game.' So if 2.0 isn't an all new game what are you playing right now? Beta + story.
