Mobs that were not linked before are now invisibly linked

When submitting a bug report, please use the below template and thoroughly fill out the necessary information.

    Date & Time: 10/22/2017 2:15pm EST
    Frequency: All the Time
    World name: Behimoth
    Character name: Delritha
    Monster name: Gastornis, Gaelicat,
    Class/Level: Bard & Red Mage / level 70 each
    Party or solo: Solo
    In-game time: 10:00 am
Area and coordinates: The Sea of Clouds

    Steps:
    1. Target a mob in close proximity to another mob but is not showing any links
    2. Attack mob and both mobs are pulled

Something changed in 4.1; or when a player is level 70; with regard to how mobs are aggro-ed in Heavensward content. Before (including all of Heavensward), if a mob is not linked to a nearby mob, just the one mob is pulled. Now, that same mob pulls any nearby mobs. For example there is a Gaelicat (in The Sea of Clouds at x12.0 y33.4 z0.8) who is next a Gastornis. All through Heavensward if the Gaelicat was up for the daily hunt, I could just pull the Gaelicat and not worry about the Gastornis since it would not get pulled. Now I pull the same mob, and the Gatornis is pulled as well. Same with any other similar mobs in the zone.

Did you have your chocobo out? They still count towards your party's level when determining enemy parties.

yes....but my chocobo is level 70 as well (Rank 19 out of 20 if you want to know).

    Edit:

I'm wondering if the linking system with mobs was tweeked or something. I tried one set of level 50 mobs (against my level 70 bard and chocobo) both with and without a chocobo out. Sometimes I pulled 1 mob, and other times I pulled both mobs. It appears the linking is much more aggressive if they are too close to one another. It takes seconds before the linking notification shows up. I pulled right when they were within range of each other and pulled both, as well as waited for the linking notification between the two showed up. By then one of the mobs is moving away.

So I would suggest if you are going to show a link between mobs, do it sooner and more often than later and only once or twice while they are near each other.

    Edit 2:

Just saw a level 50 player run by the set of mobs I was staring at. Just a second prior, it showed the linking notification, but only 1 of them aggro-ed the player.

Your party's total level is then 140. Since that is more than double the level of the enemy you attack, the game will automatically drag along an extra enemy to even it out a bit. It won't grab a third enemy though, as that would give the enemy "party" a higher combined level than your party.

I have never heard of that mechanic before.....

    Edit:

But, I'm wondering why that never happened while in Heavensward? when I did my hunts at level 60, I had my chocobo out as well, and I never had a level 50 mob pull other mobs (or if I did they were few and far between). Because 60 + 60 = 120 > 100 combined levels of the hunt plus one extra.
