The primary purpose of Ultimate is bragging rights, and people are going to try their darndest to get world first on the hardest fight in the game to date. That's like...bragging rights squared.

I really don't think this content was designed for the majority of us to "enjoy." It's there as a challenge to people who are the best of the best and/or are extreme masochists.

I do not recall asking for this, nor did any of my comrades. I’ve noted in th3 past that there seems to be two kinds of content: trivially easy “expert” grinds and soul crushing despair inducing impossibility. What I would request is a middle ground between the two. My guild made it past savage 2.0, but with 3.0 and Shinryu, we’re starting to splinter. Not great, man.

There will never be a perfect middle. What is easy and what is hard varies immensely from person to person. What we have now is the smoothest curve we've gotten in a while. V1 is slightly easier than a primal, V2 is slightly harder, V3 is a decent challenge, and V4 is rather difficult for most.

So, when SE talks about clear rewards for Ultimate coil of Bahamut, I find that incredibly optimistic.
I'll be blunt. If people in your FC are rage qutting, then Ultimate is simply not for them. The entire point was offering hardcore raiders a challenge, especially since Savage has long since been nerfed. Is it dragging out the tier? Yes. The devs have to as there just isn't enough time and resources to make new content at the rate we consume it.

I assume you mean 4.0, since you're pairing it with Shinryu? Omega is arguably the easiest raid tier they've released, and Shinryu is roughly comparable to Nidhogg. If they made neither much easier, what's the point of "Savage"?

Hardcore Raiders mocked how easy content was getting cleared and asked for a challenge.

YoshiP and the Devs gave it.

It is optional content. You are NOT required to do it. This will not make or break your gameplay if you can't clear it. You will still be able to continue on with content after it. Continue the MSQ. Continue to the Next Xpac if you want.

I for one welcome the Salty Tears of our Raiding Overlords.

I hate to be /that guy/, but if you think any of the fights in this game even borderline on impossible, then you (or the group you are running with) simply are not very good at this game, and the content wasn't made for you to begin with.

The only hard fight currently in the game (before ultimate coil) is Exdeath Savage, and that's only because of randomness elements.

Kinda sad that my simple request for initial impressions and information got perverted into a stereotypical "hardcores vs casuals" slugfest. I honestly just wanted to know if it's challenging, fun, and a nice homage to original Coils. That's all.

That's our community for you, and the reason we don't get nice things.

Anyway I'm with OP, I want to hear from the people who are actually running the content. I don't raid so I want to live vicariously through you...

There are a fair few streams going at the moment wherein you can see people progressing on Nael. It definitely seems like a nice callback to the mechanics from the Binding Coil of Bahamut, but it also seems relentless.

    It's definitely not for everyone.

I think this is the "absolute despair" that those Danganronpa games refer to.

I'd argue the wall for casual - midcore players is O3S, it provides a reasonable challenge and requires some level of focus. This then leads onto O4S and ultimate.

I can only speak for what I have seen on streams but I am in awe. I did all of coil back when it was current and reliving these mechanics in their super saiyan form is amazing. Put it this way, remember those nael divebombs that everyone struggled with (the one with two dragons), well now there are 5 dragons.
