The Lord Commander was still in his office despite the late hour, buried deep in papers. A decision had to be made. The House of Lords wanted to give the adventurers, that had been so crucial to protecting the city and ending the war, a place to live. Not because the Lords were so grateful, of course, but because the adventurers could still be useful - much more useful, apparently, than the people in the Brume, who were supposed to make way for new adventurer apartments. Needless to say, the House of Commons was strictly against that idea.
Aymeric knew the adventurers. He knew one of them especially well. And so he knew very well that adventurers weren't satisfied with a small room with a view obstructed by cold mist every day. They needed their freedom and something to build themselves.
Unfortunately, most settlements had been destroyed and subsequently given up in the calamity. Buried in the snow, frozen so deep the soil had turned into stone, there was nothing left that even the most strong-willed people could use to make a living.
But that wasn't what adventurers needed, Aymeric thought as he pulled a map of a valley north of Camp Dragonhead closer. There, an abandoned village in the ravine. Close enough to the city to satisfy the Lords, undesirable for the common folk, but enough of it was left to build upon.
It was perfect.
The entrances to the White Ravine would be in Ishgard and outside Camp Dragonhead. As seen on the map, it is a steep valley with a braided river at the bottom. Streets are often in serpentines or replaced by steps, several bridges span across the valleys, the one north of the markets being a viaduct (high bridge). Plots are either cut into the bedrock or built on terraces. The terrain is steeper than the Mist and the south rim is a cliff, several stories high.
Most of the area is covered in snow, but there are a few green specks here and there, much like in the Field of Glory in East Coerthas. Many trees still stand on the slopes, and the area is surrounded by forests, like those outside Camp Dragonhead, to the north and east.
The area features the Peaceful Pools, an ice skating area that uses Shiva's ice floor with a memorial of the real Shiva close by, and the Dragon's Breath, which are hot pools, deep enough to swim in and with a view on most of the area. You can even see Ishgard from there. The markets are arranged in three terraces, similar to the Jeweled Crozier, but with a lot more Christmas market flair. Ahem, I mean Starlight Celebration flair. After all, the tradition comes from Ishgard.
The weather is like everywhere in Coerthas - lots of snowfall, some mist and glittering ice crystals in the air during fair weather.
This is just a small project I dreamed up a few weeks ago and this seemed like the perfect time to post it. I love Ishgard and I would absolutely love Ishgard housing, with all the snow and ice, the typical architecture and the Starlight Celebration feeling.
