I think a lot of people fail to realize how the drop rates were in FFXI. Let's take Sea for example. You had to fight lower level mobs to drop organs with mediocre drop rates that you would use to pop the Jailers. These Jailers dropped Torques for their respective job and were very good items but had crappy drop rates, sometimes 0/50+ but you only wanted to pop items for Jailer of Love so it didn't matter too much. You then fought Jailer of Love which upon death would summon Absolute Virtue, the only mob pre-Abyssea that couldn't be beat straight up, in hopes you could get yet another Torque or a Novio Earring but these as well had absolutely terrible drop rates so you had to do this terrible cycle over and over again for days upon days in hopes that you could finally see one drop. All in all, this game is by FAR better when it comes to drop rates since all you have to do is kill ONE mob to potentially then deal with all the nonsense Sea was in FFXI.

I agree there are a few things wrong like not allowing to trade the weapons if you have extra and possibly the amount of kuponuts you need to get Mog weapons but 10 for Ifrit weapon is fine to me (I've seen 3+ totems drop in one event, just depends if people are nice enough to pass). I guess what I'm trying to say is that this really isn't THAT bad and like a few people have said, stop overreacting about it and be grateful you don't have to run around killing a bunch of other mobs to finally kill your goal and no, farming tapers doesn't count. You can pick up a Spiritbond PT and farm hundreds of them.
