Just reading these posts kind of upset me, not mad at the people who attempt these but rather mad at developers to limit the players who want to build a house of their own and have to create such unnecessary dramas.

Eh I got a medium in Shiro. Haven't done much with it. Why?
- I don't have that much time to play, only a few hours at night barring weekend.
- I pug Savages, on two characters, do you know how much time that take?
- I tried to Clear Shinri EX before the pug pool deteriorate.
So yeah, my house is mostly empty. I don't buy furniture from the MB, since they overpriced. I gather my own mat, but unless you have a house you know even as a crafter, furniture takes a crap load of really random mat to make, and I'm taking my sweet time. I'm sorry if the sigh of my empty house upset you, but it's a long term project. It will takes months for in individual to decorate house a normal pace, unless you throw away everything to just work on it.
Which is what I don't do, I need to do a clear everyweek, but the house itself won't run away.

My friend bought a house in LB a long while ago. He saved for ages to buy his house and ended up having to borrow some gil from me for the permit. At the moment, his garden is empty, his exterior is the default (not even coloured) and inside there are just two NPCs and a table with a quest item lying on top of it. I am 100% certain he is not a house flipper because that's not really a thing on our server and even if it was he doesn't speak the language well enough to arrange it.
He loves his house. But he doesn't play all that much - not everyone is hardcore! When he does play, he doesn't want to grind gil and items, he just wants to sit in his weird empty front room and go for walks outside. He'll gradually improve the house and add some proper fixtures; he has plenty of ideas, just not so much free time. With Shirogane, maybe some people subscribed just to grab the house of their dreams then went dormant again to deal with real life for a while?
(I don't have a personal house as I don't want one, but if there was some kind of housing activity police force they'd probably burst into tears the moment they saw my FC's mansion. It's a slippery slope; first activity is required, then it has to be the right kind of activity...?)

This entire concept is much like saying "you can't join us for Ex rou because your Omega 4 Savage parse wasn't good enough."I don't have a personal house as I don't want one, but if there was some kind of housing activity police force they'd probably burst into tears the moment they saw my FC's mansion. It's a slippery slope; first activity is required, then it has to be the right kind of activity...?

This is another interesting point; although it is less likely to be the case, there are definitely some FC houses with nothing in them. And there are plenty with minimal effort; free items from quests and little else (Just an interesting point since a lot of people seem to think FC houses are always intrinsically "better"). And although I'd love to see tons of beautifully decorated houses and I personally feel it's a bit of a waste... who am I to tell anyone what they have to do with their house? If they enjoy it as it is, then that's great for them. *shrugs*
「Life is such a fragile thing…」
Personally, I haven't decorated my Shirogane house much because for some stupid reason SE decided to make all the basic Shirogane fixtures and furnishings 60+ crafts (even though it's ~15-40 for the basic stuff for the other wards). Now I've got to get all my crafters to 70 if I don't want to be completely reamed by marketboard prices, and in the mean time my poor house lies barren.
I have bought my small house a couple of months ago, after a few days of full hunt: every hour i checked the housing plots to see if some houses were demolished. I couldn't believe myself when i got it and i was really happy. At that time i nearly just had the money for the plot and my play-mate had to lend me money to buy the housing permit. We decorated togheter (we divided the crafters, i am ltw, wvr, alc, he is crp, gld) with a lot of effort and time of our almost 50 crafters, and now my house is finished minus the basement in wich i cannot still decide how to decorate it.
I love my house and i do a lot of gardening and i take care of our chocobos in the stable (mine is already lvl 15, his is 13).
When the houses in shirogane arrived a few weeks ago, my mate tryed to buy a medium house there but didn't get it. Instead i convinced him to take a small house near mine, so i became also his tenant and i can use another garden patch and 2 more vase in his house. I also put my ALT's chocobo in his stable (since i can't make my alt my tenant -.-)
Beside this, his house is empty. He did not have the time for now to decorate it.. and even if it will never do it i think is up to him to do as he please ..
Unfortunately i can understand the feelings of people who fell behind again with this patch and didn't get a house. I can in fact confirm (i know one player myself) that someone are sitting down theyr 3rd, 4th, 5th house to sell it in the near future :/
As someone stated the first move that should be made to counter the problem as soon as we can, is to randomize the time avaibility of the house when it is relinquieshed.
No that wouldn't be good. There are people who switch their personals to FC's and vice versa. This would cause a problem not fix one.

Gave my extra personal plot in Shirogane to a friend who could not be so fortunate on the morning of. It sits empty and almost zero use. People's priorities are simply different. If just having it makes them happy, then I think that's all that matters.
Whenever people decorate it or not is non of anyones business.
What i can get anoyed at sometimes is people buying a plot but never build the estate hall.
