No. Balmung florished because people like to Troll RP'ers to make themselves feel better.

I don't think they have ever said that they're afraid of opening an RP server due to toxic players. I think they see it as unnecessary, because RP happens on every single server in the game (this is also true for Japanese servers). If anything, painting Balmung as the RP destination caused a lot of problems of its own.
I don't mind either way, but I do think it's a shame to discourage RPing everywhere. But then I was on an RP server where RP was never actually enforced and it just threw up a whole bunch of new problems of its own.

Again, because when players are left to make due with the ( non existent ) tools on their own, they will swarm and overpopulate servers, 100% of the time. SE literally set this problem up themselves by assuming the community can direct itself.I don't think they have ever said that they're afraid of opening an RP server due to toxic players. Because they were dead servers to begin with, with absolutely little backing. Mateus is the only other reasonable alternative to Balmung or Gilgamesh. And it's already closed, too. Who woulda thunk it.

Its not closed, I've made test chars all weekend.Again, because when players are left to make due with the ( non existent ) tools on their own, they will swarm and overpopulate servers, 100% of the time. SE literally set this problem up themselves by assuming the community can direct itself.

Also, creating a new server for RP would just have the same problem. It would fill up, lock, and then this thread would happen again.

Well, one good thing I could see in creating an official RP server is that you wouldn't have people coming here crying, "Wah wah wah, RPers ruined my server. I miss my small town feel."

From the E3 Liveletter earlier this year:I don't think they have ever said that they're afraid of opening an RP server due to toxic players. I think they see it as unnecessary, because RP happens on every single server in the game (this is also true for Japanese servers). If anything, painting Balmung as the RP destination caused a lot of problems of its own.
They are torn on wanting to add it, and specifically want us to ask for it. So here we are. We ask. Please.Q: Are there any plans to mark certain servers as 'role play' specific ones?
A: In terms of having an icon displayed on the screen when you log in and see the worlds, the work that goes into that - it can be done instantaneously. But that being said, whether or not we should do this, we are torn on. It's been 4 years since the launch of ARR and we know that a lot of people RP on Balmung and I'm sure that some would be ok with being labelled as being ok for RP, but there might be some people who did not join for that purpose. We don't want to create a toxic environment where people say 'if you're not RPing then get out of this world'. But I'm sure there are voices that are raised, but it would be nice to get data to back that up, maybe a survey or something like that. We are positively looking into it but torn on what timing to implement it.

It already happens on Balmung, it would definitely happen on an RP labeled server.
also, the mass transfers would then cause that server to be locked, and then "why can't we invite our friends to the RP server, its always locked" threads.

I love how you assume on Balmung and Gilgameshes population. It already happens on Balmung, it would definitely happen on an RP labeled server.

I'd absolutely be willing to bet a good chunk of both pops compose of people who just joined because their non RPer friends are there. Only to be massively confused by all the RP nonesense going on.
