I remember reading about this years ago, but had already forgotten. Thanks for revisiting the question and reminding us how it works.

It explains why although rubber is often used in high level boots, HQ rubbers are still rather useless. Imagine we're crafting a pair of i300 boots with ~20,000 quality, and it has some ilevel 300 mats, like 2 leathers and a cloth, and perhaps also an ilevel 45 ingot. A rubber is only ilevel 3. So total ilevel of all mats = 300+300+300+45+3 = 948. So out of the 50% quality (10,000 quality), the amount of quality that an HQ rubber gives = (3/948) x 10,000 = 31. Therefore, HQ rubber will give 31/20,000 starting quality.

No problem. Yes, it's best to gather higher ilvl HQ mats first. So from your example, I'll probably just need two i300 HQ mats and be able to get 100% HQ progress.

Ya, gather HQ Mats though LTW creations mats are a pain though, i am sure the rest can be gathered

I can meet the CP by buying some IV CP materia I think, but I'll have to try the rotation a bit. I tried one that was similar, but ended up failing the craft. I can HQ with lower stats with a MaMa rotation I know but it's just... so long. that's why I tried to find a macro. I think I'll try to make the oils with your macro and some more materia that I can retrieve after and then manual craft the tools.

I take back what I said. Maybe you can develop a macro that works best for your own! Don't give up the fight! Nothing wrong with adding a bit more CP though. :3
