Best way to solo some XP to continue with the MSQ quests

In the past I have used Daily Dungeon Roulettes to grind to level up to MSQ level requirements to continue the story. But that is with my summoner whom I usually always use for Group play. I am not very confident with my Red Mage yet who is now my main and not sure I want to get into group play with him. Some groups are not very patient and I am afraid of not playing well enough. So what is the best way of grinding up some XP so I can get the remaining 1/3 of a level to get to level 55 and continue with the MSQs.

Are you not in a free company? We run levelling dungeons with quite a few members of ours who are unsure of their job or new to the game. New to tanking or new to healing etc. We just take it slow, have a laugh and enjoy it at our own pace. I think it's helped me get better as well as I was always nervous first timing a dungeon for similar reasons as you with group pace and not knowing directions etc. If you are just ask ten and I'm sure they'll help out.

Not in a Free Company yet. Not sure if I want to commit to one since sometimes I can go a few weeks without playing and other times I play for several days in a row. My availability is up in the air.

At your level, probably the fastest way to solo some EXP would be either to run Sohm Al until you’re level 55, or to grind out some FATEs in the Dravanian Forelands with your chocobo (would definitely recommend healer chocobo if you’re running as a DPS just in case some FATE mobs hit hard). With regards to running on RDM, as long as you have the basics down of handling mana, and dashing in for your melee combo once you hit 80/80 or more mana, I would not worry too much about performance in a dungeon. Most people really don’t care that much, nor do they analyze players super closely in leveling dungeons unless they sense something terribly wrong. Balance your mana, use your melee combo and oGCDs, and AOE large pulls of 3+ mobs, and you should be golden on RDM.

As for FC commitments, there are a lot of FCs out there that would be okay if you logged into the game sporadically. I don’t think a lot of large FCs keep that close of an eye on their members, and kick if they go a couple weeks with little or no activity. Medium FCs either. Definitely worth looking into, at least in the future or whenever you’re ready to join one!

A bunch of side quests opened up after I finished a peticular quest so looks like I can make it most of the way there just on side quests thanks for the advice people. It was like 1 side quest left to do and I did that quest an all the sudden there where 5 more available. Seems like most of the gear is coming from side quests anyway so they seem to be necessary.

I was a returnee to the game, and found myself at lvl 50 at the end of ARR MSQ.

I simply follow the MSQ + Sidequests at HW areas before advancing to SB areas. I didn't find myself behind too much because right now I'm already at lv 67 and not even finished 1/3 of the SB MSQ.

My best recommendation will be stick to your main and run all quests + daily roulette.

For gearing up you can spend Tomestone of poetic for lv 50 and 60 blue items
