    I know if makes people want to commit suicide by chainsaw beheading, but in FFXI (regardless of you liking it or not) the predecessor of this game, paladin was not OP. For the most part it was largely balanced (if a bit weak at times) until melee was made massively OP, battles were shortened and turned in Weapon Skill kill fests, or events simply precluded a standard MMO paladin style blood tank.

    That being the case I feel like SE being the company it is, with many of the same individuals working on this as they did XI, I doubt were going to have the immortal super melee tanks you see in many MMOs. Official word on the exact effect of Hallowed is: Grants imperviousness to melee attacks. Effect fades upon moving. It is a temporary Invincible effect, situationally it will probably most difficult to stand still for long periods of time (need to reposition Ifrit/ Kite moogles/ avoid ghosts in Darkhold), and I imagine there will be an unforgiving recast on it.

    It does not appear to effect team mates, thus it won't be super rampart as such.
