    Tidus: 217 bones 9749 polys
    Yuna: 225 bones 9432 polys
    Wakka: 218 bones 9177 polys
    Auron: 243 bones 9484 polys
    Kimahri: 232 bones 9035 polys
    Rikku: 244 bones 9365 polys
    Seymour: 238 bones 8266 polys
    Lulu: 260 bones 9603 polys

Now, you can see here that Lulu has by far the most bones (animation rigging) and the second most polys after Tidus. She probably would have beat Tidus in both if she had feet or legs below the mid thigh

which she lacks because they would otherwise clip her belt skirt which as you can see here was it's own removed object from the rest of the dress on the modeling and rigging to help hide that they are just animating that section of the dress when she walks to convey her movement.

Here is a look at the belts too with the polys highlighted. Idk how to make gifs or I would, but the belts actually clip themselves all over the place just when she plain walks.

Her design is really interesting and SE's animators did a amazing job on her back in 2001. But this kind of design wouldn't fit well into FF XIV's design limitations and the need to make outfits at least partway work for a very diverse animation range for characters that have legs below the mid thigh.
Thank You so much for sharing this, you actually went out of you way to explain, some facts about these systems. I too would love Lulu's gear in game though the challenge would be quite an undertaking.

By the way, do you feel it could more easily be done as a gear option that over rides hands, legs, and feet when equipped on the body or cut up as was later done to the Odin armor set?

They don't need to make a 100% identical version of Lulu's dress. They can just add some belts and work with the limits. If the general feel/look is there that's all that matters.

A lot of that is all hypothetical I honestly don't know the answer for. I know a lot about the models for X and X-2 because I can look at all of them at my leisure and I can draw a few connections between how those models were animated compared to the models in FF XIV. But beyond a few basic things I know as a FF X and animation enthusiast I really can't say because I don't what our actual poly counts are, how our dresses are typically webbed and rigged, or the upper limits of what the dev team is willing to commit to something like that.

The most baseline thing I can say about this though is that I'm not sure if the dev team has figured out how to make skirts that are open at the front that have a bunch of details draped in front of them work. I know there's gear with stuff similar to that, but usually it's one piece? The problem with Lulu's belts is how they're layered on top of each other. If it was one layer of parallel belts that'd work for sure, but she has a big tangle of them and to make that look good on a 3d model you need multiple layers of webbing that needs to respond a specific way to game physics and the player model. If that makes sense? I'm not a dev or even someone with a degree though so I really can't say.

I'm not sure either how much XIV development team can handle either, obviously; especially since I know zip about character model and aesthetic creation. But I think at least one day in the future XIV's development team could handle tanking the challenge (*snort* littl tanker joke. x'3) of developing a FFX Lulu outfit worthy of our praise and acknowledgement. I mean, even though I know dungeon and open wolrd creation are two completely different and separate things compared to character aesthetic creation. If they can give us a constant decent flow of very well aesthetic designed dungeon, raids, and a giant swimming pool in the Red Sea of Othard, again I'm positive they can handle making a Lulu aesthetic some day.

I would rather wait for a day they can bring Lulu's outfit in its entirety than having a discount one.

I like Lulu but this game will not do that outfit Justice. Rikku's outfit would work much better. Paine's outfit is another runner up I want.
