[Ticket Response] In Game Services and GM Powers

Let me start out by stating that this is my mistake in not paying careful attention to what I was doing, and bought the wrong item. Fully realize that and admit to that. Bought Allagan Aiming Boots and Augmented them with the intent of buying Allagan Scouting Sabatons. Again, my mistake and fully admit to that.

However, I'm curious as to why the GM's seem to lack the power to fix situations like this.

Perhaps it's the reason I'm being given that isn't sitting right with me.
"・The item had materia attached or contained unique information"
Materia doesn't apply here, so what unique information does the item in question contain that makes it impossible for a GM to handle this scenario.

And if you're replying with "Should have been paying attention" that bridge has been crossed, move along.

I can't say 100% but it is likely because you purchased and augmented (ilv 340 boosted) them? If you did, it would count as two item restores as they would have to refund you the augmentation item and the boots, and your account has a limit on it - you have a ONE TIME item restore for an oopsie - so any single item restored counts towards that limit.

I don't recall having used any one time restore in the past so that "should" be intact, then again I may have simply forgotten across 5 years. And even so this rule seems bit restrictive, accidents do happen, seems pointlessly strict to me. = /

As to restoration itself. Couldn't that be dodged or ignored if items could be spawned/generated/mailed to recipient and binding upon receival? Would most likely require the character/account to be offline in the process, but seems a friendlier customer service attempt than. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sadly that's what it feels like right now. = /

These are the policies for the one-time item restoration:

When I bought the wrong item, they asked me to throw it away and send the information (time, map, dropped item name) through the same ticket. The whole operation took about 3 days.

I never understood their 1 time only item restore, seem an dated policy ( was same in FF11 ) and that they always need to go to a SGM for this.

I don't think this falls under the GM's one-time restore ability in the first place. The "item" lost when you bought the Lost Allagan Sabatons of Scouting was actually 495 Tomestones of Creation, which I don't think can be restored as they're not a "physical" item. What you lost when you upgraded to the Augmented Lost Allagan Sabatons of Scouting was the Lost Allagan Sabatons of Scouting AND a Lost Allagan Twine, and the GM can't restore 2 items (plus you wouldn't want the Lost Allagan Sabatons of Scouting anyway). If you resubmit the ticket to just restore the Lost Allagan Twine, you might be able to get that, but there's no way you're going to be able to trade your Augmented Lost Allagan Sabatons of Scouting for Augmented Lost Allagan Sabatons of Aiming.

Because if there wasn't a strict limit on it, GMs would spend way too much time helping players who weren't careful with their items, and wouldn't be able to take care of other issues.

I can see the reason behind it, but i think 1 life time limit can be harsh. As you never know what can happen.

Then from my experience I don't understand why they're called GM's.

In other MMO's GM's are capable of handling a wide range of in-game services that include item restorations in the eventuality of mistakes and aren't limited by some arbitrary restriction/s. As long as sufficient evidence is shown that a mistake was made it should lie perfectly within their capabilities to help.

In all honesty it feels as though what we actually have is a glorified police force that have been given the GM title, but with very restricted GM capabilities. Which; also in my opinion, needs to change.

Depends on the mmo. I find that mmos with p2w cash shops and smaller player base have more...receptive (for a better lack of word) GMs.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

I accidentally bought 5 Gobdips twice today instead of once. I feel your pain.
