If this were a title the company was just going to close down instead of try to revive, they would have done so last year some time.
I think you're semi right. I do think that Square Enix is trying to save what little is left of the Final Fantasy 14 name, but I think was will save or kill the game is what we see with the next two patches, and how many players stay in the next two months.

If the job classes are done right, it might over shadow the server merge.
