Level Sync and How to Fix It

Nobody likes losing their abilities due to level sync. It's difficult to go back to a level 18 BLM or DRG after being level 70. Not to mention incredibly boring.

A lot of the push back, though, from changing the system is that tanks wouldn't be able to hold enmity at low levels.

My proposed fix is simple: Give tanks all the enmity tools they need before the first dungeon by rearranging the levels at which they acquire abilities.

    Gladiator:

    1 - Fast Blade
    2 - Fight or Flight
    4 - Savage Blade
    6 - Flash
    10 - Rage of Halone - Quest
    12 - Shield Lob
    15 - Shield Oath - Quest

    Marauder:

    1 - Heavy Swing
    2 - Berserk
    4 - Skull Sunder
    6 - Overpower
    10 - Butcher's Block - Quest
    12 - Tomahawk
    15 - Defiance - Quest

And Dark Knight already has all of those equivalent abilities by 30, so they'd have them when they sync down. This will help new tanks understand how to generate aggro properly, and overall it'd be more enjoyable for veterans to level sync.

The worst part about level sync is when it happens in solo story scenarios, i understand the dungeon thing although it shouldn't do it but for solo duties it's really unfair because it erases character progression

it give you space to be 2 levels above the quest level. This is enough to make the story fight not too easy, but still easier than to do it at the right level.

Or just do it like ToR, where you don't lose anything but stats during syncs, so old content can be more interesting to play. I would be fine with what OP is proposing though.

Reason they don't do this is that if a new player has an incomplete rotation then they risk being kicked for slowing the run down

He doesn't need to. That's the type of community we have. No matter what they do, giving us full access to our skills will break balance. Even if they greatly nerf the potency for sync, we will still be out DPSin the new person who doesn't have all their skills.

Now now the first rule of it is you don't talk about it. So he's right, we kick for "differing playstyles" not a lack of dps.

That's not the type of community we have. That mentality exists, sure, but not universally. And it's not even close to the majority. There'd be no reason to nerf potency, as it scales as is.

If you think enmity is hard for tanks to hold at low lvls now, it would be flat-out impossible for new players if they made this change.

I already cringe just thinking about some poor sprout MRD or GLD trying to hold mobs against any lvl 70 dps synced down but with their entire toolkit of skills.
