    FC Housing, the next generation

    Greetings Eorzeans,

This thread is here to discuss ideas what would make housing feasible and fair for FC's but beyond the current ward system as those spots will always be limited with the current set up. Throw Square some brainstorm material!

So how about, a grand company issues town that you and your fellow brothers and sisters of your FC will liberate and help rebuild from the evil <insert bad guys> (garleans perhaps with the current setting?).

The idea is that the grand company your FC is with will issue a special FC quest that can be undertaken as a light or full party where you will delve into an instanced duty, liberating the town from its oppressing rulers and afterwards your GC leader will ask for you and your FC to help them rebuild and manage the town, the townies so grateful for your help will immediately give the previous ruler(you drove him out/killed him) his small mansion to be used as your new FC hall (medium house size)

Now the town is initially small and in urgent need of repairs, but it shows promise of growing if one puts effort into it, this can be done through again, FC quests (kill the invaders, kill monsters that are lurking beyond the town walls, donate x ammount of granite and mortar to repair the roads and walls... etc...), eventually the town would be able to expand to a city and with it your mansion into an estate hall and as the town further expands with more quests and material donating maybe even something bigger then the large houses we know today.

Naturally this doesn't have to be just an FC mansion but FC members could also relocate themselves to the instanced town, instead of a room in your FC house they can get their own private house with lawn and everything... cause hey, your FC is running the town after all!

Now to be fair, this won't exactly be realistic to implement this expansion, however it would resolve the issue of housing as it currently is, the old housing could become privatized and be more prestige while FC's could get the better deal by having actual FC content and a potential larger FC house with all members living near eachother.

You can edit your post to get past the absurd character limit. I would love something like this, but if they can't handle expanding a ward system beyond 30 plots, I'm not sure how they'd handle a town with enough plots for over 500 fc members.

Effectively replacing the FC House/Room system with an FC Town/House system sounds awesome and has a lot of potential.
    >Do the quest
    >Pay a fee for the deed to the town (it'd have to be a lot for the sake of a gil sink, but would be worth it)
    >Name your town
    >Over time you gradually improve the town, perhaps using miner class to clear rubble, botanist to plant new flowerbeds and trees, carpenter to erect new signage, etc
    >As the town improves, npcs will start arriving and the town will gradually become more lively, with a real lived-in feel to it
    >You could even choose the aesthetic of the town to some extent, placing decorations and banners around the place if you choose, maybe choosing the style of the town walls and the stone path?

There's a lot of potential in your idea. The single biggest issue I can see is the potential server load, but since wards are instanced anyway, and what we're talking about is essentially another instanced ward, it might not be too bad.

It really is. Add more, other than that it's only bad if you don't have one. Most want to casually play and expect a house. The market has shown that if you cant handle putting in an incredible amount of time and effort, you shouldn't be looking for a house. It's on par with the real world. Housing is sought after, and is fueling the game on every server. Square knows this, and asks for forgiveness after because its easier. This housing problem is blown way out of proportion, mainly by casual subscribers who do not want to earn a house and by people just blaming the fact that they wern't as good as other players within the context of Shirogane Extreme. Housing is fine, there's just way better, way smarter, way richer players out there that are going to get them, because they want them more. That will never change no matter what details you change.

I think the housing system is bloody terrible and I got my house last year.

Don't assume everyone who thinks it's bad is just some poor sod without a house. I didn't magically become okay with such a broken system when I happened to get something good out of it.
